Ignore the reviews, I booked this holiday as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday, we are a young couple in our 20s (we were definitely the youngest there) and thoroughly enjoyed our time! The hotel was quiet and peaceful (exactly what we wanted) but not a ghost town. The decor is described as out dated but this is not the case. It reminds me of an old fashioned palace, it was very nice. The room was spacious and was stocked up with new towels every day, although we had a twin room instead of a double so that was slightly annoying. There were plenty of English people around, and all the staff spoke perfect English. Every member of staff from the bar to reception to the restaurant to the maids were all so friendly and helpful! The spa was very nice as it was private and you have to book but you get it to yourselves for an hour. The all inclusive was pretty much how you expect it. Food was maybe a slight let down due to the repetition but regardless, it was plenty with plenty of options. The drinks were very good, the beer is estrella on tap, different from other all inclusives with cheap beer. They are very generous with the spirits and would make whatever cocktail you fancied. The hotel is situated within a 30 second walk from shops, McDonald’s, bars etc. perfect location. We always had a sunbed although due to the high buildings surrounding the hotel and a few clouds, we didn’t get too much sun the whole time out by the pool (not their fault). Although you can book the blue beach bar on the morning you would like to go, this is free (for all inclusive at least) and you get the sun all day! To round it up, much expected for an all inclusive holiday, very friendly staff, lovely spa area, plenty of estrella ;) and in the perfect location. Really couldn’t complain about much at all, only recommendations would be an improvement or differences with the food but other than that, we really enjoyed our get away! Thank you very much!

“Third visit”

Our third visit to this hotel, as always we really enjoyed the food. Hotel spotlessly clean. We had a superior sea view room which was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only comment would be that it would be nice to have a no smoking section in the outdoor area.

Good points There is a balcony with a side view of the sea. The room is not next to a lift and almost at the end of a corridor. The room is relatively clean. I complained about the stench and a person came and appears to have added some scent to stop it smelling! The hotel is centrally located in Calella near to the beach. There is a fridge. The staff appear efficient and respond swiftly. Bad points When I entered the room there was a fowl smell - coming from the drains. My request for a quiet room has me positioned on the third floor opposite a nightclub/bar. The noise/music is loud enough to hear the words of the songs. Traffic and general street chat can also be heard clearly - I have ear plugs but it is not in anyway relaxing. In the room there is one useable plug next to the bed. On payment of a deposit I have received an adapter to convert this into three sockets. There is a small sanitary bin in the bathroom but no other bin in the bedroom. There is no kettle- apparently I can ask for hot water from the bar! The room is very tired and has marks on the walls and around the edges - which could easily be cleaned. Modernisation of the room is well overdue. The safe is charged at £28 per week plus a £20 deposit. It is not large enough to fit a 14" lap top and is operated by an actual key (rather than a code). I can not get the wifi to work in my room. To be honest the room feels like an old fashioned hostel. I questioned the lady at reception about the room and was told it was a standard room. I understand to upgrade for a single person is £30 per night. Which I think is extremly steep given we are at the end of their season.I also think it is unreasonable given the need to upgrade is necessitated by the extremly poor standard of this (standard) room. Which is very much below what you would expect for a 4 star hotel.
