Yes, guests at Alegria Mar Mediterrania - Adults Only have highlighted that: This hotel is brilliant. We arrived late thanks to a terrible transfer by our package holiday provider. The hotel had kept us a snack and gave us some food when we arrived. The late night desk clerk was lovely and really looked after us. (Quick tip) get a private transfer or simply take the train from Barcelona to Santa Susanna its a ten minute or less walk to the hotel and cheaper then most package deals. We got to our room 516 and after a quick look at the sea in the dark it was time for bed. There is a train line behind the hotel but the sound from the trains is not that invasive. In fact the street sweeper was louder than the trains! The rooms are clean and provide everything you need. You get two complimentary bottles of water on arrival there is a kettle and cups if you want a drink but if you are all inclusive just go to the bar. Failing that take a teabag from the restaurant at Breakfast. The only thing we found a little strange was the layout. The TV is aimed more towards one bed side of the room. Personally I would flip the layout to out the small sofa near the balcony door. We had twin beds which are nice and comfortable which made a change from our Magaluf hotel! The bathroom is spacious with a lovely but noisy shower which I’m sure our neighbours didn’t enjoy at midnight when we needed to wash our travel weary bodies! Onto breakfast. There is an overwhelming amount of food available for breakfast almost boarding on uncomfortable. The standard English brekkie with properly cooked bacon and a chef to cook eggs how you want. Only on one day were omelettes an option which was a shame but very nicely cooked. Whoever if you are a baked goods fan the Croissant selection is insane! It would embarrass a french bakery with the shear amount of options. They are very tasty and perhaps the reason ive added a few pounds during my trip! There is a bit of a bunfight for the coffee machine as people seemed to like double dosing their cups. Just take one and come back! One thing In would like to mention to the hotel is a lack of water bottle points. The hotel asks people to think ecologically but there is only the juice machine to fill a water bottle. This is a basic necessity in this day and age. Using a glass bottle feels wasteful. Also if you could stop your wait staff taking the plates so often or asking if you are finished at lunch and dinner would probably save you an awful amount of water. Seriously one of our plates was taken within 7 seconds of finishing the food! Calm Down!! Even meals are the same we didn’t have snacks as we only went half board. The food is very tasty but some of the evening meals felt a bit samey. Pizza three days on the trot was a little too much. However there is plenty to choose from you wont go hungry. Oh apart from whilst you wait at breakfast for the toast to cook! Ten minutes to cook two slices! The pool and bar area. Lots of nice places to sit with plenty of options not really a fan of allowing smoking in these areas but thats just me. Very friendly and helpful bar staff. Do be aware though that some of the drinks are not included on the all inclusive and take your own towel with you or you will have to hire one. You are requested to use the towels on the loungers. The pool is UNHEATED but once you are in its a great temperature to do a few laps in. Very funny watching those caught out by this fact. Again very clean pool but I did notice in one of the inlets there are three large screws protruding down from the boards around the pool. Something that needs addressing! We booked the spa via the online booking system accessed by the QR code in your room. You get 45 minutes in the spa and it’s shared with up to 8 guests. The spray showers did not work very well at all and those need sorting. There was also a trail of ants coming through a door but the next day these seemed to have been dealt with. The spa bath and sauna and steam room were enjoyed. And we booked again however the online system wouldn’t allow a second booking but the reception easily booked us in again. We also treated ourselves to a massage which was fantastic for the basic thirty minutes. The masseuse was very good and I felt thoroughly relaxed afterwards. So would we stay here again? Absolutely but I would not book with Onthebeach. Book directly with the hotel and arrange your own flights and transfers and I would certainly stay a little longer than the four nights we stayed. There isn’t a huge amount to do around the hotel so if you are a hotel lounger this place is fantastic for you!

“Crisp and Clean”

This hotel is brilliant. We arrived late thanks to a terrible transfer by our package holiday provider. The hotel had kept us a snack and gave us some food when we arrived. “Relaxing holiday”

“Brilliant weekend”

Had a weekend with my daughter,s. Staff were very friendly,and helpful.Food was beautiful with a lot of choice. Rooms very modern,and spotlessly clean . Can't fault anything,and will be returning again soon .

“Overall a nice stay with god value for money”

Stayed here in May 2024 for 8 nights. Hotel & staff The hotel is in a nice beachfront location and conveniently positioned for local shops/bars/restaurants and transport. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only one outdoor pool which is not heated and quite small but there is a very nice indoor spa with a heated pool which you can book for 45 minutes per day for free. There was no entertainment on an evening but this was not an issue for us. Rooms We had 2 rooms next door to each other 308 & 309. One room had a large balcony and one had a tiny balcony, despite being the same room type. The rooms were really small but adequate, however were lacking in some areas. There was no mirror in 309 aside from the bathroom mirror and neither of the rooms had USB ports in the plug sockets which I feel is essential. The rooms faced south and got a nice amount of sun each day. The walls are very thin and I was woke up most nights by noises from neighbouring rooms and the corridor, including a fight which took place on the corridor one night and the police had to be called. This was very unexpected as I didn’t think this hotel would have attracted such people. Local area/transport to bigger cities We found the local area to be very good. There was more than we expected for a small town and Santa Susanna has everything you need and more on the main strip which is about 1.5 miles long and easy to walk for the average person. The beach was nice too. For us, the transport system was poor or at least the trains were. The trains are way more complicated than necessary. You have to buy your ticket and then remember to validate it every time you use it, which I didn’t really see the point of. You find yourself not knowing when your train is coming, not knowing which platform to get on and there were many people getting confused, even people who could understand the language over the intercom were clueless. The station at Santa Susanna is fine because there are staff there to help, however we went to Barcelona and Girona and got on the wrong train on the way back both times. The train to Barcelona takes about 70 minutes, just don’t go to the final stop because it’s in the middle of nowhere. Get off at Barca Sants or Playa De Catelunya. Also if you go to Girona, there is a direct train every couple of hours from Santa Susanna which takes 50 minutes, although I think this is only on weekdays. Food & all inclusive The food in the buffet restaurant was disappointing. If you are a fussy eater, vegetarian or used to larger chain AI hotels, you’ll struggle here. Most things were flat cold and the choice was just much smaller than the likes of RIU or H10. There is enough to get by but found myself eating pizza and chips constantly. There was only chicken once in 8 days which I found bizarre. The restaurant staff were nice but the food was poor. The all inclusive is 11am-11pm and there is a bar which has a decent selection of drinks included in AI, with some charged at 50%. There is also a beach bar charged at 50% for AI guests. I really get a bee in my bonnet when AI does not include everything, so will probably stick to larger chain hotels in the future. Overall this is a nice place and the hotel is decent value for money. I found myself saying “you get what you pay for” quite often. I probably wouldn’t stay here again and will stick to better known hotel chains, mainly due to the food and small rooms. If you aren’t bothered about a small room and not a fussy eater, you will have a nice time here.

“Relaxing stay”
