We came to this hotel 12 years ago, this time it was even better with much more going on for families. The hotel was clean, the food / drink were spot on, and its located in a great spot (not far from the airport). The staff were friendly, especially Youssef (shout out to him). He was engaging, funny and always delivered high energy, hes a credit to the hotel!

“2nd stay not quite as good as the 1st”

This was our 2nd stay at the Elba Carlota. We requested the same room 263 as our previous stay and this was allocated to us, a perfectly located room with a decent view. Room was clean on arrival and kept clean all week, fresh towels and toiletries provided and a few lovely touches from our cleaner which always brings a smile. Food in the restaurant again was good, maybe not as much choice as our last visit however still plenty and we never went hungry. Still an issue to get a 2nd drink due to waiter service but as we already knew this issue we planned on only having 1 drink and water with each meal in the evening, we didn't go in during the day so can not comment on this. Breakfast food wise plenty of choice, only issue this time which we did not experience last time was all the fruit juices apart from the apple juice were undrinkable due to them separating once poured, we took a squeezey bottle of cordial from the UK with us so resorted to using this for our daughter and we just had water or coffee. Pool food again odd but you can get enough to snack on, coldslaw sandwiches, cakes, bread basically every day was a mixed bag. Pool bar once again perfect and hats off to Paula who seems to keep this area in perfect condition. Pools - we spent most of the time in the heated one which was lovely. The days we wanted a pool day we didn't have an issue getting sunloungers it just meant on my morning walk I'd reverse these, not stupidly early like some people but we always got the area we wanted around 7.30 and would be going to breakfast at 8am anyway. We did see loungers reserved from early morning and not used most of the day from but you seem to get that everywhere. Location - just perfect 20min stroll to town, 5 min to a shopping centre which has a bar and restaurant as well. Reception staff are just amazing at this hotel, some of the best we have ever had the pleasure of meeting, a huge thank you to James (we think his name is) after an issue with a bird that was injured and our daughter, being so upset he did his up most to rescue and help and this really made our daughters holiday, she loves animals so the resident cats got well fed in our week as well!! Entertainment, this was pretty good, again not as good as our last visit. Most nights we had a singer on on the evening, now although these were good the lobby bar is simply not big enough to house all the guests so they can watch comfortably, also only having the one bar open in the evening like last time simply doesn't work, we gave up in the end trying to get a drink after 9.30pm because the que was simply too long, this didn't help with people knowing the length of the que so ordering 2 or 3 drinks per person per party so it slowed the whole thing down. Again my last review having self serve soft drinks and maybe beer would take so much presure off, you can get self serve coffee so really seems a simple thing to do, in the restaurant as well. Unlike last time we visited we did not experience a foam party in the pool, a bbq or a white party, these were 3 things that we loved last year and were reasons we realised booked so this was a little disappointing. The grounds of the hotel are kept immaculate, toilets always clean. Overall we enjoyed our stay, not quite as good as our previous visit, we hope to return at some point, this would be sooner if the small improvements were implemented.

I don’t often write reviews, but I always read them before booking a holiday, so I felt it was only fair to start sharing my own experiences too. We recently stayed at Elba Carlotta for a week with my husband and our 16-month-old son. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our stay, although there were a few areas that could be improved. We arrived quite late on our first evening, but thankfully the restaurant was still open so we were able to grab some food. A special mention goes to one of the waitresses who was incredibly kind and even gave us a whole carton of milk for our little boy’s bedtime bottle and the following morning. It was such a thoughtful gesture after a long day of travelling. The hotel itself is nice, although some areas are looking a little dated. The pool area was good and it was lovely to have both a heated pool and a dedicated splash pool for younger children, which our son really enjoyed. As with many hotels, the daily sunbed hunt was very much a thing. If you wanted a good spot, you really needed to be out by 7–7:30am. Pool towels were another frustration as ours weren’t changed throughout the week despite us asking. The buffet restaurant was perfectly adequate, and we always managed to find something to eat, but it did become quite repetitive and never really wowed us. The Italian à la carte restaurant, however, was excellent. We were entitled to one meal there during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. We actually wanted to book a second visit and pay extra, but unfortunately it was fully booked for the remainder of our holiday. The hotel is also in a good location, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. In terms of negatives, housekeeping came every day, made the beds and generally tidied the room, but I didn’t feel it was a particularly thorough clean. The sink often wasn’t wiped properly and coffee cups weren’t always changed. We were also disappointed by the lack of evening entertainment, especially compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in. Our biggest disappointment was an interaction with one particular receptionist. Midweek, we enquired about a late checkout and were told to come back the day before departure as it could be arranged. When we returned, we were told we could keep the room until 2pm but would need to pay for the privilege. I then asked about using a courtesy room after 2pm. We were told that even if we booked one, we would only get a 30-minute slot and that all available slots had already been taken. Travelling with a 16-month-old, this wasn’t particularly practical. When I explained this, the receptionist simply looked at me and said, “That’s all there is.” Unfortunately, she came across as quite rude and unwilling to help, which left a negative impression at the end of an otherwise enjoyable holiday. Overall, Elba Carlotta is a decent 4-star hotel in a good location. We had a lovely family holiday and there were certainly plenty of positives. With a few improvements to housekeeping, guest service, dining variety and entertainment, it could be a truly great hotel.
