Our second stay at this hotel which was as enjoyable as our first stay. Upgraded this time to a mini suite which was nice. Service and quality of food again first rate. A couple of persistent if cute pigeons flying around while having a drink outside slightly annoying encouraged by the odd thoughtless guest who fed them . But this was a minor item and this hotel is definitely our go to when visiting Tenerife.

“The best hotel”

As always wonderful service. Wonderful hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are so welcoming. The best 5 star hotel. Looking forward to returning soon

“Excellent hotel but incorrect accommodation.”

This was the seventh time we had stayed at your hotel and everything was excellent, as usual, except for the fact that yet again we did not get the type of room which we had booked. For a variety of medical reasons we have always booked a junior suite with two separate rooms, with a bed in each. We arrived late in the evening of April 15th, tired and in my case very sore due to back problems, to find one room. While the issue was sorted out the following day ... meaning we lost half the first day of our holidays waiting to be moved ... it yet again was a poor start to our stay. This unfortunately has happened quite a number of times during previous stays and your staff don't appear to be able to explain how this happened, and as a result we must question whether we can continue coming to Jardines de Nivaria .

Pros The hotel and gardens are beautiful and immaculately clean. The pool is the star of the show, and the hotel strict about no sunbed hogging. Most of the staff were happy, friendly and pleasant. Mirella and Bea deserve a special mention, as does the chef at the poolside restaurant, who were particularly friendly and helpful with my dietary needs. Breakfast was excellent overall, with a very good buffet, lovely fresh fruit, healthy options and fresh omelettes. The coffee was very weak - ask for a double shot. Accessibility was very good overall, especially by mobility scooter. It was easy to get around both inside and outside the hotel. There is valet parking, which is useful, particularly as the garage parking itself is very tight. Cons I would not recommend this hotel if you have food allergies or significant dietary/medical needs. Despite emailing very detailed information in advance and being told the hotel could accommodate it, the reality felt like Groundhog Day. We mainly had to explain everything again, every time we wanted to order room service. This was exhausting, and not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. There were also worrying issues with breakfast labelling. For example, salmon pâté was labelled as vegetable pâté at breakfast. Some restaurant staff seemed to lack understanding of dietary and medical needs, and at first refused the larger amount of water I needed at breakfast on medical advice and to take medication with food. Reception suggested this might be because everyone else would expect the same regarding bottled water, which rather missed the point. The hotel also felt impersonal at times. Information about my dietary needs did not appear to have been passed on properly, and some staff seemed to lack training, or care, around disability awareness. At breakfast, some of the very brisk male staff also seemed to make assumptions about my mobility and how far or quickly I could walk. Our seaview suite was noisy at times. It overlooked a promenade and restaurants rather than having an uninterrupted view of the sea The surrounding area was more downmarket than we expected, with quite a bit of noise, especially at weekends from the apartments with rooftop pools opposite as well as road noise. In addition, fried food smells from the surrounding food outlets meant clothes worn or left on our terrace picked up the smell. And the hard floors meant there was a loud clattering whenever housekeeping were doing their rounds with their trolleys. Take noise cancelling headphones! For a supposed 5-star hotel, the suite also lacked premium toiletries, which added to the feeling that it did not quite meet the standard being claimed. We stayed at Tivoli La Caleta afterwards, which is much classier and genuinely 5-star by comparison. Overall, there is a lot to like here: the hotel is beautiful, the pool is excellent, and it is very clean. But the allergy handling, patchy disability awareness, noise, downmarket location and lack of a genuinely premium feel mean we could not rate it as a true 5-star experience.
