We had another superb time at Villa Maria. accommodation quality was excellent and the staff were helpful throughout looking after my daughter who is coeliac. Will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you!

Cannot fault this hotel at all. From checking in to checking out all staff were very friendly and attentive. Anto, who covers reception and the dining room was very friendly and excellent at remembering you each morning. Part of her job is obviously selling the themed nights (we were bed and breakfast only) but she soon got the gist that we weren’t interested in eating in the hotel so didn’t push it! She also seemed to be able to speak a multitude of languages! Our 2 bedroomed villa with whirlpool, terrace, table and chairs and sun beds overlooked the golf course and the sea and was very comfortable if a little worn for a 5 star. Breakfast was buffet style with an egg station and was the best quality and choice of breakfast I’ve ever had! There is an adult only section in the dining room which was nice and peaceful. We didn’t eat at the hotel other than breakfast so can’t comment on other food quality. We did however think that €49 per person excluding drinks for the BBQ buffet was pretty steep!! I had my 60th birthday whilst at the hotel and there was a lovely bottle of cava on ice in our room on returning in the afternoon! Pool areas spotless and cleaned every morning. Sun beds plentiful and thick padding so very comfortable. The location is lovely and quiet overlooking the golf course but as others have mentioned the walk back up the hill can be a bit of a slog! Plenty of inexpensive taxis around though if you don’t want to walk it! Overall would thoroughly recommend the hotel and villas!!

Our second time of staying (which we don't normally do!), and an amazing experience again at a beautiful hotel. The villa's have excellent space, and having the secure area outside for our small children was such a bonus. All areas of the hotel are kept really well. We enjoyed the pool and always found you could get a sunbed by one of the pools. Staff are all really lovely, and the food is very good. I expect we will probably return again!

“Great B&B option for adults, not the ideal option for young families, with poor kids club facilities and deep swimming pools.”

This was our first experience of a self catering holiday abroad, which we picked because it had the benefit of a resort, breakfast, and kids club. There are a few points that prevent this being a 5 star stay. Positives: - checkin was great, with a welcome drink, chocolate for the kids, and our car was parked for us in the carpark. We were taken, with our luggage, to the villa by golf buggy. - villas are spacious, with minor wear and tear. Kitchen is well stocked with essential crockery and pans. - Hotel was full, but there were no issues with getting sunbeds by the pool. - Spa was lovely, though we only had a massage and didn't have time to use all the facilities (see kids club comments below) - Location is good if you have a car, or are comfortable walking 10-15 minutes uphill to return. Most major attractions and the airport are within 20-30 minutes drive. - La Caleta is a beautiful, quiet, and upmarket area of the island. - most staff are friendly and helpful - pool areas were clean, and well attended by bar staff. - breakfast is plentiful in selection and quality. Pre 9am visits were the best, as it gets busy between 9-10am. - whirlpool in the villa was lovely, especially to warm up after a chilly dip in the main pools. Negatives: - kids club. The woman running it showed little to no interest in children, and we overheard some other children calling her the "mean lady". We frequently commented that she clearly hated her job. Our children visited 3 times, and returned each time with comments such as "we are only allowed to play with toys when there are 3 children there, otherwise we are not allowed to play". The club runs activities in the pool at 12 and 4, meaning you can only leave them in club for 2 hours at a time, limiting options for spa use, or any relaxation. - pools. Bar a paddling pool for toddlers, all pools are 1.3m deep, with no shallow end. Therefore, if, like us, your children are below 1.2m, and not yet confident swimmers, they cannot enter the pool unaided. - pools were cold until the final days of our stay. Our children were blue and shivering. - the food is terrible. It is priced in line with neighbouring restaurants in La Caleta, which would be fine if it was a similar standard. It was not. Nothing was as described on the menu, with kids meals larger in portion size than the adults. - we tried to explain our food experience to a member of staff pressuring us to book onto a BBQ evening, and our comments were dismissed and swept aside and she continued to attempt to book us on the BBQ. - food and drinks are expensive overall and not reflective of quality. - there was a music festival on the other side of the golf course on the Saturday, which we were not made aware of. Music was VERY loud , and made it hard to relax in the afternoon. Had we known, we would have spent the afternoon elsewhere. It was also audible inside the villa, so troublesome if you have children that won't sleep. It was only one night though, so a minor inconvenience and outside the hotel's control, although they certainly should have told us about it. Overall, a good option for a first try at self catering, but the kids club was not as beneficial to us as it could have been. We ate out or in the villa most meals as the food was not enjoyable at the hotel. So, if you are a young family toying with self catering for the first time and considering this hotel as a good introduction, I would recommend that you bite the bullet and go fully self catering elsewhere. It will cost you less, and the hotel's kids club is definitely not a bonus. For adults, I think this is a great option as a B&B base, and even better if you can secure one of the 3 bed villas with private pool.
