We arrived late at night check in was straightforward, got to the room was slightly disappointed as it wasn’t the cleanest, the mattresses were hard. We woke up in the morning and I felt like I was crawling with bugs looked at the bedside table and bugs all over it and on the bed! Receptionist sorted it straight away to be fair. Around the pool is slightly run down needs some tlc, most of the sunbeds were in-usable and the lack of parasols was a big issue. The poolside looks dirty and not well maintained but did the job. The all inclusive was ok plenty of choice we had breakfast and lunch in the hotel but choose to go out for our evening meals. We have fallen in love with the area, we will definitely come back here just to a different hotel.

My family had a week long stay at BlueBay and had a mixed experience overall. Firstly, the facilities on site are reasonably good. Rooms are a little tired but are decent enough for a week long stay, the pools are decent and entertained three children (7, 4 and 3) for a week. There are plenty of options when it comes to meal times and being able to pour your own beer is great. However, other holiday-goers should be aware that the pools are freezing and barely, if at all, heated. This alone wouldn’t knock the score down to a 3/5 on its own, but coupled with the non-existent customer service from the reception team then it brings down the whole experience. Towards the end of the holiday, a couple of people in our party were vomiting/diarrhoea and, when we asked for more towels and a change of bed sheets, we were bluntly spoken to in a manner that brought one party member to tears. We were told that we should have reported it that morning (before the sickness started). Although we were given some towels and sheets, we were told that was all we would be getting until the next day. As the sickness had started the day before we were due to fly home, we asked for a late check out. This was denied, understandably as the room was already booked for the next guest. When I asked for help with any other local sites or a courtesy room for the five hours between check out and our pick up, the receptionist said no and nothing more. When I then offered to bring the sick individuals to reception for the afternoon, they shrugged their shoulders. Given the lack of help and interest in an already stressful situation, I won’t be returning.

“Last time here”

Second time at Bluebay and will certainly be the last. We came as a family last April and had a fantastic time so we booked a late deal to come again. Second time at Bluebay and will certainly be the last. We came as a family last April and had a fantastic time so we booked a late deal to come again. This will be the last time though as since the last visit the place has unfortunately gone down hill. I get that this is a 3 star and I know what to expect but this now feels like a 2 star. The place is looking very worn down and the paint coming away in the pool just gets bigger by the day (see photo), the edges are super sharp and kids are constantly complaining of hurting their feet. The rooms are fine, we always say it's just somewhere to sleep so no complaints there. When we checked in at 11pm there was only one lady on reception and there were about 10 families booking in, we didn't get to our room till gone midnight and after leaving the UK at 4pm this turned into such a long day for us. The food is fine if your not a vegetarian otherwise it's plain pasta and bread rolls for the week, the one time they had a vegetarian dish they laid it on a garnish with bacon! If your in a room above reception/dinner hall then be prepared for noisy people at the pool bar late at night, we had a group singing till 2am and when complained to reception we just got a shrug. They say when you check in not to reserve sunbeds but by 8am they are pretty much all taken so something to think about. Pool bar is self serve on drinks so never waiting for drinks or snacks like burgers, chips etc. Overall it's a nice cheap place to come, the pool is lovely (cold) and my daughter wouldn't get out. Staff are friendly, pool bar staff can be a bit miserable and tend to just get grunts. If you want somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay then this hits the spot, it's not terrible just needs some TLC. I just think the place needs to close for a week or 2 and really bring it back up to standard then it would be a lovely place.
