Seventh time back, this time on "UP". This is an excellent upgrade. No more early rising for a sunbed. You are guaranteed a bed and they all have great sun and excellent views. The UP terrace covers most of the roof space, is luxurioulsy appointed with upscale furniture and provides a luxury escape for the everyday norm-at a cost of course and it is not cheap. Pros and Cons. CONS. The wine is poor (The Cava however is excellent with three different varieties. The beer is worse, however there is an Amstel 5% bottle which is excellent. There is a smoking area right next to the eating area-how stupid is that? Some people cheat the small morning queue by using the fire escapes (Management!). Parasols are basically life expired (Management!). CONS. Brilliant staff as with the rest of the Hotel. Furniture is luxurious, high quality towels. Sunbed ratio 10:1 person. Cava is excellent and flows all day. Endless coffee and tea to suit most tastes;fresh orange juice; Breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and afternoon tea buffet, all immaculately served and replenished so that every one can have what they want-each session around 2.5 hours each. No queuing just orderly wandering through the buffet area, which is reassuringly beautifully presented. Stunning selection of dishes-Breakfast-Croissants;pastries;breads;cold meats and cheeses-typical continental fare.Lunch for instance Serrano ham; Smoked Salmon;Iberico Pork;Prawns;Small coated chicken pieces;salads; Afternoon tea-fruit (high quality);selection of delicious cakes again, endlessly replenished. Then there is the BAR-premium alcahol of every kind. Any cocktail you want. premium soft drinks. You need to scan you wristband here just to ensure you are an UP guest but no issue-simple. The wristband also gives you access to your room and the UP deck. Generally, this is a great value for money experience with superb views out over the bay and behind into the mountains. Really stunning backdrop. Couple of infinity pools, but you still have full use of the main pools-excellent! Still the same problems with the whole hotel, mainly the doves everywhere which can be very trying. Service is slow in the main bar in the evening. Smoking and vaping! Why is smoking allowed on the premises and in such stupid places-next to eating venues or by other peoples sunbeds and why is vaping permitted on the bar terrace? Is it permitted or are staff not enforcing the rules. Both filthy habits that I do not want to share. The staff are generally brilliant, friendly and helpful and work hard. The hotel is still outstandingly beautiful and the main buffet restaurant delivered some of the finest food I have seen in a buffet anywhere. All in all a great experience which is why we are heading back for number 8 in October-cannot wait.Thankyou Arona!

Went to the Arona Gran in May/June for our 25th wedding anniversary and enjoyed it. The staff were all friendly and helpful, from restaurant to bar staff, with a special mention to Arsenio, the Maitre D and Ruben, who was always smiling and friendly when collecting our plates, morning or evening and to Julian who was mainly at the pool bar, who was great too. The food at the hotel was very good, with a lot of choice with a roast choice every evening and cooking of various fresh meats and fish, plus various choices of potatoes, vegetables and salads with other meat and fish dishes in sauces or without. There was also good choices for deserts or cheeses if preferred. Breakfast was good too with a good choice wether you wanted a cooked or continental breakfast. The hotel was very clean from our room to the pool area and entertainment/bar areas and was reasonably priced for food and drinks. The only slight downsides we felt, in our opinion, were that the evening entertainment was for us, below par for the standard of the hotel, as it seemed fairly similar each night, with singers on, with some better than others. The other downside was a personal one, where our friends had come out to celebrate our anniversary with us, for the second part of our holiday and we were going to experience the Up! at the hotel. Unfortunately when we went to ask the price, the cost was different for our friends, due to them having a side sea view room rather than a sea view room which we had. We didn't agree with this as the experience is the same no matter what room you have, so didn't do the UP! experience, so think this could be something the hotel could look into as it slightly spoilt, what was until then a brilliant holiday. Just another note for people who may be going to the hotel for the first time, is that the hotel doesn't use/take cash payments as your door card is like a credit card, so any drink or food goes to your hotel room, so we kept our receipts to keep a check on what we had spent. Also my wife is a coeliac and was well catered for, as the restaurant has an allergy board with signs for each allergen and the stations have a card stating what the food is and signs of allergens that it may contain, if any. Would definitely go back to the hotel as we had a great time even with our slight downsides and would recommend if anyone is going to Los Cristianos for a special occasion or just a lovely holiday 😀

The Arona Gran has been a favourite stay of mine for a number of years. I enjoy the daily activities lead by the activities team most notably led by Virginia. The evening entertainment of cover bands are also enjoyable. The buffet food is lovely. The daily room service is excellent. The hotel is very clean and there is no noise. The bar staff are all very friendly.

We are currently halfway through our seven night stay at this wonderful hotel. The staff as always are most accommodating, it really is service with a smile. A special mention to Juanjo in the restaurant who along with the rest of the team makes everything seem effortless. Also Soto Gabriel, and all the the staff in the lounge area a big thank-you. Also a mention to Jonathan on the egg station . We hope to be back in the not to distant future.
