“Wonderful holiday”

We had a great holiday and a truly memorable stay at the Barcelo Margaritas Royal Level. The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard. Restaurant facilities are exceptional and the staff very friendly and courteous. Would definitely recommend

Our second time here and all good. Reception very efficient and friendly, both check in and check out. Our room, on floor seven, was as expected; spacious well appointed, good views over the grounds, clean, good bathroom. A slight minus is that the restaurant is not in the same building as the rooms which means a short outdoor walk. Only a problem if it is raining, something we did experience. Meals are all buffet. We prefer this as it’s possible to try different dishes. For all meals, there are freshly prepared dishes cooked as you wait. We felt that food was good quality and we enjoyed our meals. Restaurant staff were on the ball. Public areas spotlessly clean and staff worked hard to clear up after nighttime storms and high winds. Plenty of sun beds available if you wanted them but as weather was very mixed, we didn’t really bother. Hotel has a courtesy bus to the centre which is about 2.5km from the hotel. As we enjoy a walk each day, this was ideal for us - after breakfast, a walk for a beachside coffee and back for lunch. Alternative was walk to the lighthouse, a bit further at 4.5 km. We’d certainly return.

“Lovely Hotel set in spacious sheltered grounds”

Very comfortable spacious rooms with generous balcony, great sun bathing around the pool, all the tree and shrubs make for a relaxing and sheltered experience. Staff lovely and friendly - stayed here 3 times so far and can report the same experience on all occasions.

We’ve just returned from a week at the Royal Level and overall we did have a lovely stay, but I wanted to share some balanced feedback. The hotel itself is nice and our room was very spacious, with a separate bedroom and living area. The bed was extremely comfortable, which made a big difference. The main issue for us was the pool area. For the first three days the pool was very dirty, with a lot of algae visible on the bottom. While it was eventually cleaned, there are still areas that clearly need repair. The surrounding pool area also has a lot of broken and uneven tiles – during our stay I saw a lady fall and badly hurt her arm, which was quite concerning. The Royal Level restaurant works well for breakfast, but at lunch it is not a buffet – you have to order from a menu. The portions are very large, but the choice is quite limited. As a vegetarian, dining was unfortunately a big disappointment. We had booked the BBQ restaurant one evening, but there was literally nothing available for me to eat and no alternatives offered. I felt that the idea of a vegetarian eating at a BBQ restaurant was almost laughed at, which was uncomfortable. On a couple of evenings in the Royal Level restaurant there was also no vegetarian option available, meaning I had to eat at the main hotel instead – not what I expected given the extra cost of Royal Level. I did raise this at reception but never received any follow‑up or acknowledgment. Finally, I’m not sure if this was due to it not being peak season, but there was nowhere to go for pre‑ or post‑dinner drinks other than the reception area, which felt quite strange for a hotel of this level. Overall, we enjoyed parts of our stay, but the pool maintenance, lack of vegetarian options, and limited evening atmosphere let it do
