“Average-has issues”

Stayed in the premium villas. Arrived late about 23.00 and was greeted warmly. It was explained that the resturants were closed but it had been arranged for us to have a small bite to eat. The food served was salmon and King Prawns with bread and fruit. (Looked lovely, but not what you would want at that time of night). Got taken to our room in the premium area (opposite end of property from reception). On arrival at our room, first impressions were great, bottle of fizz waiting, a gift of a shopping bag...clean and modern room. The facilities that are available are not clear. Pool area, clean and comfortable with Bali beds for all. Theses can be reserved for you by speaking to the lifeguard. Pool is very deep (150-155 cm), inflatables are not permitted, so if you are short you cannot stand up, ask lifeguard for a noodle. Whirlpool is relaxing and clean, although cooler than the pool. Drinks service around the pool is hit and miss. The pool area is well kept and the gardens are beautiful, although watch when the gardeners are there as they were cutting the grass and I was showered with gravel whilst on my bali bed. Daniel, the animation guy is great, friendly and welcoming. Activities most mornings, pilates, yoga and then cocktail demos and making mojo sauce. Food...the service in the Mediterranean restaurant is poor for a resort like this. Some days you are welcomed and served quickly other days you wait 30 mins for a sever to offer drinks. The breakfast food is good, varied food types and amazing pastries. Lunch however is an Al a Carte affair, same menu everyday, however the food is poor. Pizza not cooked, Steak-asked for medium, received rare, supposed to come with chips but never did was greasy and the potatoes served with it were awful. Every lunch was pot luck as to what you would get (never as described on the menu). Husband asked for strawberry ice cream and received vanilla. Resturant is very noisy as staff regularly set up tables around you for the next service and crash and bang around. Food on the servery was not regularly checked and often was left out a long time. Rooms - modern and clean. Rooms have nespresso coffee makers and complimentary water. Bathrooms are huge with bathrobes and flip-flops. Toiletries are supplied, Rituals no less! Water pressure is not great. At 6pm there is a turn down service, the staff just walk into your villa unless you leave your do not disturb sign out. Cleaners clean Rooms at irregular times. Check out. Our flight was late in the day and all AI services are finished at 12 on the day you check out. To reserve your room for longer it is an extra 60 odd euros. But this does not include food. Hubby and I had use of a shower though in another villa before leaving, but as we had checked out our premium privileges had been taken away, so we were left in the main part of the hotel. So, basically we lost a whole day of AI that had been paid for! Red wine is very nice, cocktails ok, coffee from the bar is good, food is average. The Ham man is amazing, he carves in front of you! An average hotel, been in better, just think staff could be more attentive!
