The food was a culinary journey across the globe. Every evening we experienced a wide range of cuisines and came up with some truly unique combinations. The stars of the week were the steak, chicken skewers, roast pork (which formed part of a makeshift Sunday dinner) and the lemon tart. Not forgetting the chocolate fountain (which, to our delight, identified as a nacho cheese fountain a few days later!). On a few occasions, we had to have a lie down with a brew after a meal, due to the extensive food options available (remember to pack stretchy clothes for feasting). Breakfast was another highlight; who knew how many combinations you can make with a little bit of creativity! Something truly for everyone. The pool area was a people-watchers’ paradise, with daily announcements for the wide array of activities, even including a pool side fashion show! (Listen out for the ding dongs and you won’t miss a thing). We opted for the sunbeds with a slight dip to them, as they moulded to our bodies perfectly and added to the overall comfort. There was a wide selection of drinks available: cocktails went down like juice and the free pours were more than generous… top tip: if you’re feeling tipsy after the 2nd, don’t get the 3rd 🥴. The lifts were super speedy. On the rare occasion where we had to wait up to 30 seconds, this just made more time for competitive bets on how many stops it would take to get to the bottom. This brought us both many successes throughout the week and added to our overall enjoyment of the hotel! The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Shout out to the smiliest woman we’ve ever met who worked in the restaurant (sorry, didn’t get her name!). She brought even more joy to our evening meals with her sunny disposition! We can’t leave a review without mentioning the entertainment. Although the volume needed turning up a bit, after the third free-pour vodka (as previously mentioned) we were more than happy to have a boogie! We were surprised the first time we experienced the entertainment, although this was our own fault as we got confused with the days (and actually really got into it once we processed it and realised it wasn’t ABBA!). The rooms were clean and comfy, and beach towels were provided. The milk for our Yorkshire tea fit in the mini fridge (take the girl out of Yorkshire but not Yorkshire out the girl!). The fab showers helped identify any sunburn, which we had previously gained from people-watching by the pool (if only we’d listened to our mothers who told us that you can still burn through a calima!) Overall, we had a joyful, relaxing week at the Gran Canaria Princess, with many memories made! Thanks to all involved (shout out to Natalie… we hope it worked out 😉)

“Incredible value for money for such a high quality hotel.”

Very impressed with every aspect of this hotel. Room, food, service and facilities a very high standard and very reasonably priced.

“A week stay in the winter sun.”

Spotlessly clean, friendly staff. Good choice of food. Good location only 15 mins walk to the beach. Only comment is that for a 4* hotel it would have been nice to have free water provided either in dining hall or in room. For us, a bonus that the carnival was on whilst there.

Having stayed at this hotel about 6 times in the past few years, I have noticed a gradual decline in standards which makes me wonder why I continue to return. My main issue is the repetitive bland food which is usually not at sufficient temperature. For an all inclusive holiday priced over £2000, this surely has to be a basic expectation and I shouldn’t need to reheat using the microwave. I also feel the hotel could stretch to providing real orange juice (as they do in the Barceló Margaritas). The main restaurant has school canteen vibes and we found ourselves going out for evening meals quite regularly. The catering staff look overworked and dispirited. Doubt very much I’ll return.
