I’ll start with the smallest of negatives because the positives far outweigh them. As a family of 3 I paid less than £900 for 10 days here in June. For a 3 star I cannot fault the place. Negs: pillows (flat) spare bed (hard) no oven or grill, small fridge. One plug socket in the kitchen so making a drink/food/toast/microwave is quite a multi task. Transfer bus drops you outside another hotel and it’s a short walk over the road with bags to Gaviotas. Probably 10-12 euros in a taxi. Positives: spacious, clean, quiet, tv, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, sponge, hairdryer, cleaned 5x a week they even take your rubbish away, location perfect - doesn’t matter what block you’re in, it’s a short flat walk to beach/shop/bars. Large excellent shower, Air con in bedroom, twin beds, washing line out the back, I requested close to a pool and it’s smack bang outside our door: mostly have it to ourselves, cold but clean. Pretty surroundings, helpful staff. Pools are gated, doesn’t help with the wind much but when that wind doesn’t blow it’s hotttttter than the sun itself. We had apartment 2 in block 7. Superior have a great spot right on the front opposite the sea but we were happy. Matagorda is quiet. Plenty of places to eat/drink, not very Spanish and all very mid. Ocean bar at the top of the centre has lovely staff and lovely views with a nice vibe. Beach is massive and sandy under foot when paddling. Plenty of electric scooters about if you wanted to travel further down. Hoppy app needed. The walk through the palm tree park is beaut. Anyway. For a 3 star it’s a 10/10 from us.

Another brilliant stay at Las Gaviotas. This was our second stay this year, April & June and we will be returning for a long weekend next month as it’s our perfect bolt hole. From arrival the staff on reception are always so welcoming, I emailed ahead of the visit to request block 1 or 2 which they had on record and were able to accommodate our request on both occasions. I always ask for extra pillows and these always arrive promptly. We arrived early both times, we left our luggage and went for a walk to the commercial centre for some lunch. Reception called as soon as the apartment was ready, both times earlier than the official check in time. They then called for the minivan for us to be taken round to our apartment. The apartment was clean and comfortable as always. The cleaners came each day as scheduled and always did a thorough job and were so friendly. We cannot fault the apartment and location. The pool was clean and never many people sunbathing which is a big draw for us as it never feels crowded. The apartments are not luxurious but have everything we possibly need on holiday. The location is superb for walking along the promenade either way, you are right next to the beach, shops and restaurants. There is so much to choose from. So looking forward to our next stay. Great little apartments, fully equipped with everything you need. Clean and comfortable. We loved our stay and will definitely stay again. Perfect location, close to shops, restaurants and the beach. Staff were polite and extremely helpful. Lovely walks along the front in both directions. So many lovely restaurants to choose from - Sirocco being our favourite.

I stayed here last week with 2 young children as a family of 4. I got a good deal with the is hotel and it was very last minute so I wasn’t expecting to much. I was really pleasantly surprised. When I arrived the receptionist was really friendly and pointed us in the right direction to get food as it was late at night. The apartment itself was basic but has all the facilities we needed and was very clean. The pool was great. Kids just enjoyed playing. The hotel did say inflatables weren’t allowed but nobody seemed to bother. Never had an issue getting a sunbed and in a great location for the short walk to local shops and restaurants. It was also very close to the beach. Overall I would be more than happy to stay here again for another stay. Great value for money and a lovely family holiday.
