The hotel is a great wee spot. It's small but has all you need for a nice holiday. It's in a quite location but close enough to walk to bars, restaurants and shops. The food is good with varied themed nights. A drinks menu was not available but would be helpful. Providing cups for self service drinks would be better than having to ask staff for these however I believe the hotel has guest's staying on half board basis so that wasnt possible. The guest entertainer was up for a laugh and brought guests together for some daytime games and she hosted 4 entertainment nights. She remembered guest's names and is an asset to the hotel. The hotel also had 3 nights entertainment with external music performers. We had a enjoyable stay at this hotel and would certainly make a return visit.

“Gem of a hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for two weeks in July/August 2026 and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The hotel is small with 78 rooms. The rooms more more like modern apartments and they are cleaned daily. Towels are changed every two days. The room had a TV which had a range of English channels although we watched very little TV but its nice to have (depending on the weather). The food is good, I am a fussy eater and I never struggled at any meal time. The plates are also hot which is helpful when trying to keep food warm and dishes are clearly labelled. When the main restaurant is not open, snacks are available at the bar day and evening (it would be nice to have a list of what is available and the timings). Some days they served fruit cocktail, cheese, light bites around the pool area and they also did a BBQ at the pool side other days. An ice cream machine was also available beside the bar which was very nice. The pool area doesn't open till 9am and on our first week we had no problem securing two sun loungers and an umbrella however on our second week people where queuing and putting out towels much earlier however we always got loungers. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. We got a taxi into Puerto Del Carmen for 6 euro although it is walkable as many guests in the hotel did that. The hotel has one lady who runs the entertainment and activities within the hotel, she is great fun and remembers everyone's names which is a nice touch. The activities include stretching, pool, darts and shuffleboard. She is good at trying to get guests involved without being too pushy. She has a great sense of humour and is very well liked by the guests. She also runs some of the nightly entertainment such as the karaoke, quiz and bingo nights. There are also entertainers brought in 3 nights per week. Guests do tend to mix with the other guests and the hotel has a nice friendly vibe - we met some lovely people which made our holiday. We hope to make a return visit soon.

This is my second review this year of the Hotel Pocillos Playa as we were here in May 2026 and this holiday was booked after the first week of a fortnights holiday. Over the years we have returned for a second time to a hotel and have usually been disappointed second time round. Not so with this hotel, in fact it’s even better, so much so we’ve booked again to come back in 9 weeks. The thousands of great reviews are not wrong. The cleanliness, the staff, the entertainment, the food, the locality, the beach are all worthy of the excellent reviews given previously. This of course doesn’t just happen because it’s a clean and customer focused nice hotel, this is all because of the manager who oversees everything and ensures staff and customers are well catered for. He does an excellent job and is always looking to improve the hotel for guests. There appears to be a level of respect from staff and guests not always evident in some hotels.

Great location with a fantastic beach nearby and shops, bars and restaurants, buses and taxis are cheap for exploring further afield. A lovely chilled atmosphere, we found it really relaxing and the evening entertainment was always fun. Rarely was there any noise either from fellow guests or from outside the site, yet lively bars were a 5 minute walk away if that's what you want. Very spacious room, clean, well equipped and lots of wardrobe space, great balcony with just a glimpse of the sea, which was an unexpected surprise. Staff were friendly, helpful, efficient and very hard working, the dining area was probably the highlight, not just for the variety and quality of the food. but tables were quickly cleared, cleaned and made ready for the next guests,we never had to wait. We also upgraded to "premium" when booking as it seemed like good value and we were not disappointed, loved the bali beds and the large selection of drinks on tap. Such a gem of a hotel in a great location, we love to try and go to new places every holiday but we're already talking about going back.
