Secrets Lanzarote is our go to destination every year. We highly recommend a stay at this hotel. It is such a relaxing stay. The location is fantastic, a 10 minute stroll down to the lovely marina of Puerto Calero and not too far from Puerto Del Carmen by taxi/bus (or walk along the scenic coastal path, about 5k). The atmosphere at Secrets is so relaxing and enjoyable!! The staff are always so friendly, welcoming and professional, they really do go above and beyond to make your stay exceptional. There is a great selection of bars and restaurants that are all fantastic!! These are some of the reasons we choose to return annually.

After a busy few years my husband and I needed somewhere to escape to for a full on chill out holiday - and that is exactly what we got with Secrets Lanzarote Hotel and Spa. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who took our bags, checked us in quickly and offered a complimentary beverage. We arrived before our room was ready, but we still had full use of the pools and pool bar while we waited - a very nice touch indeed. The room itself was clean, comfortable and had lovely touches like a Lor coffee pod machine, bottles of water and complimentary toiletries that were so big they lasted the entire week we were there! The hotel is big on sustainability and you have to request towel changes and new sheets on the bed, but all this information is clearly displayed in the rooms and is easy to understand. Down by the pools, there are plenty of sun loungers for all guests, and it was lovely to be at hotel where people didn't feel the need to lose their minds and do the mad dash to save loungers. Hotel staff regularly walked around checking in if we would like more drinks etc. and though the service at times could be a little slow, we were there at peak holiday season so completely understandable with so many guests to cater for. The spa was a lovely experience, very relaxing, and though we didn't use them, the fitness facilities were actually pretty decent too. The food on site was really good, plenty of variety to choose from and the staff were always happy to help. We were only bed and breakfast and the walk down the to marina took us only about 10 minutes. There are some brilliant restaurants down there for variety. For a chilled holiday, we got exactly what we wanted and wouldn't hesitate to visit again in the future.

A mixed review from our first stay at this hotel and in Lanzarote. Like some other reviews, I don’t feel that this hotel is five star. Whilst clean and with an impressive lobby, it is quite shabby in places - doors and door frames to bedrooms, cracked tiles in walk ways, furniture in bedrooms and grouting in shower for example. We were checked in quickly by Lukas, a very helpful and friendly chap. It was the porter who noted that our original room of 217 would be too much of a walk with my mobility issues and wheelchair, and we were given a room closer to reception that was also a suite. It had a lovely pool and sea view (which I’d paid for) but the suite made it much more spacious although the balcony never got the sun at any point of the day. The jacuzzi hot tub didn’t work, but this didn’t bother us as it wasn’t a feature we needed. We paid for Preferred Club and bed and breakfast basis but it quickly became apparent that this didn’t get much extra than the mini bar (some contention, Lukas had said it was replenished, we later were told it wasn’t) and access to an extra restaurant and pool area. There is a lounge too but it’s next to reception and I rarely saw anyone in it because the preferred club guests are at the pool during the day. The self access to hot and soft drinks needs to move to the foyer of the pool bar. It could save bar staff time if they only poured the alcoholic drinks. There were hors d'oeuvres but they were not covered or refrigerated. Again, if this was on offer at the pool, it might suffice (it certainly would have for me) those just wanting a snack and delete some of the tables at Oceana restaurant. On day two with 6 nights left, we upgraded to all inclusive at a cost of €100 per person per night, ie €1200 as we realised that we’d spend this on taxis and eating out (and had on day one) since the hotel is very remote and the nearest restaurants and minimal shops are a 15 minute walk away, not suitable for wheelchair users as the steps at the end to the marina are numerous. A few issues - on 6 August access to the grassed area was closed due to grass cutting at 10-11am. This meant that there were no loungers as the poolside loungers go very quickly. A very strange time to do lawn maintenance?! Also..the grass looked no shorter afterwards! A second issue was on my birthday. No taxis were coming for guests due to a sporting event and some road closures. We had planned to eat on the marina as a change of scenery. After an hour waiting we decided to eat in the hotel. We placed an order at the Portofino restaurant and after waiting almost another hour we were told that the order had got lost. At nearly 10pm by this time, we said we didn’t want to eat and we went to bed. Not a great birthday. However, Laura was amazing in her response to this issue and offered a complimentary late check out (usually €10 per hour for each extra hour needed). I’d like to thank Laura for her calm patience and understanding. She is a credit to the hotel. I’d also like to mention Valeska who worked long and hard every day of our stay and was super friendly and gave such quick service time and again. I don’t think that I will return to Secrets Lanzarote as it lacks entertainment (a nightly show but there is no entertainment team or activities beyond a sports related offering) and it’s too remote for my preference, but with some modification to the tired aspects of the hotel, if you seek a very picturesque and tucked away hotel with beautiful coastal scenery, it would be for you.

“Good, however disappointed with the air con”

We very much enjoyed our stay at Secrets Lanzarote to celebrate our 30 th Wedding Anniversary. The only issue we had was the air con in our room was insufficient We reported this on 2 occasions however it was never resolved for us .
