“Lovely place”

Fabulous place. Clean with comfy beds and warm shower. Was dreading the steps after reading reviews but didn't once get a taxi back up.

(M31 & F28) Loved our lil 5 night break over the Easter Bank Holiday at Altair Apartments. On arrival it is not clear, but you do have to check in at the hotel next door (Cala Dor) and the lift did not work. However, staff were all very lovely and helpful! We were given room 105D which is the first floor with a view of the pool. The room has a kitchen with all the necessary amenities & appliances for a self-catering stay, table & chairs, fridge with a little freezer compartment with an ice cube tray! The living room area had a sofa bed, table & TV with some extra storage. The bedroom had a large wardrobe with about 10 hangers and a safe, two bedside tables and 2 single beds pushed together. We thought the beds were really comfy! Also ample of mirrors including a floor length one too! The bathroom had a shower (cold in the morning, but hot later in the day), sink and toilet. A hair dryer is also provided in the bathroom. The rooms and hotel itself was super clean and the house keeping ladies did a fabulous job and were always very polite and said hello. The pool is good size and has a deep end and the pool snack bar was ok value for money (€3.70 for a pint of beer). The only thing I would say is - if you want to lounge around the pool, then grab a bed in the morning as we struggled on the last few days to get a bed when we came back around 12:00 and decided to go to the beach instead! People had reserved beds, however hadn’t returned for a couple of hours which was very annoying. The location is not ideal if you have mobility issues as you have to walk down around 200 steps to get to the shopping centre and restaurants. Plus, a lot of steps to get to rooms etc (lifts are very temperamental). It was about a 15 minute walk to the beach. Taxis are around €4.25 - €5 to get to the centre or beach which isn’t bad and they come pretty quickly! There is also a mini market just outside the hotel, so very ideal for water and snacks. It isn’t too noisy at night if you have all the doors closed; it definitely didn’t keep us awake. If we were to return to Puerto Rico then we would definitely stay here again and would also recommend to friends and family!

​Having stayed here before and multiple times over the years in Puerto Rico, I appreciate the familiar layout and great location. While the staff remain as friendly and helpful as ever, our recent 2-week stay highlighted some disappointing declines in basic cleanliness and amenities compared to previous visits. ​The Downsides: Housekeeping & Hygiene ​Minimal Cleaning: Despite maids visiting most days, the floors were only mopped once or twice and bedding changed only once during our 14-night stay. ​Waste Management: Bins weren't emptied daily. In a self-catering unit, I’d expect either daily removal or a supply of extra bags so we can take the rubbish out ourselves. ​Poor Detailing: I found false eyelashes in our room during week two—I don’t wear them, which means they were left behind by a previous guest and missed by cleaners for over a week. ​Pest Issues: We encountered cockroaches every morning and evening. While I understand they are common in this climate, we’ve stayed here many times across different seasons and have never seen this many. We dont leave food out and I always keep the tops clean and wiped down. ​The Upsides: Facilities & Location ​Pool & Sunbeds: The pool area is well-maintained, and remarkably, you can find a sunbed at almost any time of day. You get the sun on your balcony from midday right through to sunset which is lovely. ​Room Layout: The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage and a spacious balcony. Great views especially when the sun is going down. ​Location: An easy walk (including some steps—good for the legs!) to the center. It is noisy at night, but that’s the trade-off for being so close to the action. ​Self-Catering Basics: Unlike other local self-catering stays, no "welcome" water, washing-up liquid, or cloths are provided. However, there is a 24-hour essentials shop in reception which is very convenient and plenty of shops nearby to get essentials. ​Amenities: Check-in/out is handled at the sister hotel, Cala D'or, where you can also book a shower room for late flights. ​Good to Know Before You Go ​Check-in/out: 3:00 PM / 12:00 PM. ​Luggage Storage: There is no secure room; bags are left in an open area near the lifts in reception at Cala D'or. ​Budget vs. Pricing: While the room rate is "budget," the pool bar and food prices are higher than neighboring hotels. ​Key Highlights ​The Staff: Truly the standout feature. They are professional, friendly, and do their best to help when issues are raised. ​Pool & Sunbeds: The pool area is very well-kept. A huge plus is that you can almost always find a sunbed at any time of day. ​Overall I still really like the hotel it hasn't put me off but ill just make sure I am armed with extra pest control next time and maybe some bin bags and floor wipes. ​

Just back from a week here with teenagers in May half term. No other teens around which disappointed them a little. The complex is so clean and modern with well equipped apartments. Staff always cleaning and tidying. Good pool area and lovely sunbeds, no rush, no queuing to put out towels, could even get 5 beds after lunch if we needed to. Good supermarkets, although some are pricey, we preferred the Spar. Lots of steps but didn't bother us, good exercise really. The only downside is the music until 4 am every single night. Even with all doors and the small bathroom window shut it can seem like you're in a night club. Nothing much the hotel can do about it as it comes from the bars, but if it had been quieter from midnight this place would be perfect and we would return.
