Pros: first of all, the staff totally make this hotel. From reception to the cleaners to the bar staff, waiting staff and chefs - they are all amazing. Always very friendly, approachable and helpful even when under pressure. Downstairs lounge/foyer and restaurant areas decent and modern. The rooms and hotel are very clean overall - kudos to the very hardworking cleaners. Beds are extremely comfortable. Air con in rooms is simple to operate and highly efficient (even got a bit too chilly some nights so had to turn off!). Decent balconies on most, if not all rooms. I thought the food was great. There was more variety than some hotels I have stayed at. Different meats, fish and even mussels and clams. Salads, and fresh ripe fruit. Coffee and juice machines. Alcoholic drinks: spirits were known brand names, and included in all-inclusive, as were some cocktails, mocktails and even slushes (which can be made alcoholic upon request!). Hot snacks served between meals. Lovely pool area - often loungers available if you keep checking throughout the day. Great location, near the beautiful beach and so many shops . Very cool supermarkets if you want to eat cheaply outside of the hotel. Calella is a great and safe choice for female travellers especially. Cons: as other reviews mention the hotel is noisy, as there doesn't appear to be any sound-proofing in place and other guests are inconsiderate and don't make any effort to be quiet. All the internal doors seem to slam, and you'll hear this through the day and night. Our first room was near to the lifts, and you could hear everything happening in the hallway outside. As a light sleeper I didn't get to sleep past 8.00am in the mornings as there is always noise from the road outside from very early (bin trucks, road-sweepers, delivery vans). The on-site canteen/restaurant gets very noisy, which can make eating there a bit of a chore. There is no option to eat outside (by the pool) which would be lovely, and for some reason the windows in the room are always closed with the curtains pulled closed, so you can't even look outside (to the pool area). The air con there is also always on full, which makes it quite chilly when you are in holiday clothes. The rooms are basic, and slightly small but you get what you pay for as we got a great deal on our all-inclusive package. Other guests can behave very badly, which can taint your whole experience of the hotel. For some reason during our stay there were large groups of minors there un-chaperoned, who were clearly only there to drink alcohol (may appeared underage) and take in too much sun - acting very irresponsibly around the pool and younger children/families just trying to enjoy their holiday. A group of these youths were moved into the room next to us on our second night and made so much noise that we asked to be moved. Luckily our request was very kindly accommodated by the receptionist on duty, for which I was very grateful. This completely altered/improved our holiday experience. There was unfortunately no entertainment on-site as far as I saw.
