Clean rooms with the comfiest bed I've slept in that was not my own. Had everything in that you needed and included ensuite in the twin bedded room. Small hostel with character. Recommend to anyone on tight budget

Booked this hotel as was on our way to a booked apartment on the see front, but could only have 7 nights instead of 10, so booked Hotel Montserrat as a bridge. we were arriving by train and wanted somewhere close, after a great deal of research we found/settled on this hotel, we chose this one as the images looked good, it was decorated tastefully, had air-con, location and price. although it is advertised as a hostel, we had a private room, balcony and bathroom, the latter was a little small but was fine for our party/needs (2 adults, 1 child). the area is very local and not much tourism (as cambrils is generally). this was also a draw for us, even if my few spanish words/gestures were a little lost. when we checked in the staff was excellent and spoke very good english, they explained everything we needed to know and left us to it. some of the staff spoke no english (or very little) but again, this is about traveling and added to the experience. the restaurant is also excellent and does get very busy in the day with the locals, (on occasions the locals do take preference), I had the Catalan bulls tail stew, it was again excellent, probably up their with the best spanish food I have ever eaten (I do like my food), probably would have missed this on the menu if it was not for Google translate scanner app, as it was difficult to navigate, but found on leaving that there was an english menu as well, unsure if it was the same menu. (tip: the Crema Catalan is also excellent). when we checked out at 11am, we could not check into our next accommodation until 17:00hrs, so they let us leave our bags until we wanted and even offered us the use of their showers later if we wanted to go to the beach for the day. again excellent service. Location is in the old town about a 15 minutes walk to the seafront, there is a small shop 60 seconds around the corner that was well stocked (bread, sweets, beer) and a larger supermarket about 5 mins away. the view from the balcony was good, overlooking a 14th century look-out tower and a church, the road/junction beneath is a little busy at times but not excessive, had a good nights sleep, the balcony isn't a solarium type. the room we stayed in consisted of 3 single beds, perfect for us, and contained a fridge. would definately stay again and recommend to others. if you are looking for a 5 star hotel with pool and a sea-front location then this is not for you, but if you are looking for a friendly, clean, adequately equipped, short stay then this could be the one.

Cambrils is a lovely town but most of the seafront restaurants are either very expensive or serve substandard food. Cambrils is a lovely town but most of the seafront restaurants are either very expensive or serve substandard food. Fonda Montersat isn't conveniently located for most tourists but is absolutely worth the 20 minute walk away from the seafront. Beautiful Spanish food and with 3 courses plus wine and water for 11 Euro, an absolute bargain. Will be back!

“Good food, traditional catalán food”

Big and wide dining room, sometimes could be a little noisy but it's compensated by the quality of the food. Typical Catalan food. The place it's always crowded so I recommend you to book first, to avoid surprises... The cost is also good, about 17€.
