The tour we booked with 'On The Go Tours' used the Hotel Monterrey, Roses, for the particular tour we were on ~ "Pyrenees by Train" used this hotel in Roses for a base to work out from. When we arrived we were taken care of immediately even though we were a bit early by a friendly staff. While most of the staff are not particularly fluent in English, we did just fine in communication. The room was clean and well furnished with what was needed. We were on the side of the hotel so the view of the ocean was limited but we didn't spend much time at all on the balcony anyway. Our room was quiet at night even though we were close to the elevators. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels as a standard procedure. The water was always very hot (no cold showers unless you wanted one), water pressure was excellent to it was a real temptation to take long showers. At one point, our sink didn't drain well, and after mentioning it to the front desk, it was taken care of by the next time we were in our room which would indicate excellent guest concerns. Two meals a day were part of our package and they always were well prepared, served buffet style, with lots of choices. Of course, after several days, some items could seem repititous but we were vey happy with the quality and variety at each meal. The staff in the food service area were most accommodating, cheerful and hard working. The hotel is located on the promenade that is a beautiful walk into the town of Roses and takes about 30 minutes to walk each way. There are plenty of restaurants very close by as well as gift/tourist shops (and of course, the very necessary gelato stops). If we were to book a room on our own, we would book an ocean front room to be able to enjoy the view, but in this case, it really didn't matter. While we didn't use the pool, the area was well maintained and inviting. While not a 5 Star hotel, the price isn't either, so yes, I'd stay again.

“Nice Hotel, very nice resort.”

Excellent location. Handy for bus stop into Roses Old Town and various boat trips also the Roses Expres Train pick-up point. Clean, nice size room however the TV in room was VERY small (approx 18" screen) and only 2 English speaking channels (CNN and 1 other). Free Internet available but not a … more

Excellent location. Handy for bus stop into Roses Old Town and various boat trips also the Roses Expres Train pick-up point. Clean, nice size room however the TV in room was VERY small (approx 18" screen) and only 2 English speaking channels (CNN and 1 other). Free Internet available but not a strong signal in our room. Buffet was OK. MOST staff were nice, friendly and helpful. Very few English Guests. Access to the very close promenade and beach from the rear of Hotel was closed off until 12 noon - this meant we had to exit via the front door. Explanation given was that the bar did not open until 12 noon - not sure why that meant the beach access had to be closed off !!

Lovely location near restaurants and has separate boat stop from the main port in roses. Lots of hotels and the beach is directly in front. Very clean and a lift to all floors. Lovely location near restaurants and has separate boat stop from the main port in roses. Lots of hotels and the beach is directly in front. Very clean and a lift to all floors. A ramp to reception area as well as stairs.Car park is available at approximately 15€ a day. Rooms are large enough for 2 with separate bathroom. Somewhat dated. Towels changed daily. Food is the usual half board but often not very hot. Also better suited to adults palate rather than children’s. Small bar and cold water swimming pool which was open but too cold to swim. I was with a group and we all felt that overall the hotel presented as a 3 star rather than 4. There was coffee and tea only available at. Breakfast nothing available during the day. Rooms now have kettle and cups. Very new but coffee and tea on provided on arrival despite requests for more. Rooms have a large ceiling fan for warmer weather. We had a side balcony which gave a side view of beach. Most of the staff were very plesent and helpful.

We cut our stay short as we was not happy with our stay this time - it was not good as when we came 4 years ago! Had to beg for ICE, the phone in the room was not working, the air conditioner was not very powerful and during our stay we was unable to locate the manager, for us to talk to him about these issues! Very disappointed.
