Second visit – great location, but some things really need improving This was our second time staying at this hotel. We enjoyed our first visit, which is why we decided to return, but unfortunately there were a few things this time that really let it down. Location – Perfect The location is great. The beach is around a 15-minute stroll away, but there are plenty of shops, bars and pubs along the way, so we never found the walk an issue at all. Sunbeds – By far the biggest problem I honestly don’t know where to start with the sunbed situation! Last year the pool area opened from around 8am, which worked so much better. It now doesn’t open until 10am and, in my opinion, it has made the whole situation ridiculous. People start queuing beforehand and as soon as the doors open everyone pushes and rushes in. At times it actually felt quite dangerous, especially when you have children with you. However, if you don’t join the queue and go out at 10am, you risk not getting a sunbed at all. Some people were incredibly rude, and we also noticed plenty of sunbeds with towels left on them for hours with nobody actually using them. The hotel really needs to rethink how this is managed because it creates unnecessary stress every single morning. Pool – Far too overcrowded The pool gets extremely busy and overcrowded. There are lifeguards around, but unfortunately we regularly saw them looking at their phones rather than watching what was happening in the pool, which was disappointing considering how busy it gets. Food & Drinks – Average The main food is okay. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing amazing either. The snack bar food is actually very good, although the service can be extremely slow. The alcoholic drinks were disappointing. The spirits in particular tasted very watered down. Lifts – Be prepared to wait! Yes, the lifts really are a pain! We were on the 6th floor with a pram, so taking the stairs wasn’t always an option. At busy times you can be waiting quite a while, so definitely be prepared for that if you’re staying on a higher floor with young children. Cleanliness & Housekeeping – Very good The maids work very hard and do a great job. The rooms and corridors were always kept very clean, and we also noticed the caretakers constantly working to keep the hotel tidy and well maintained. This was definitely a strong point of the hotel. Reception & Bar Staff – Lovely The reception staff were always friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the bar staff were also lovely throughout our stay. Service at the bars was generally pleasant and the staff always seemed polite even when it was busy. Animation Team – They work hard The animation team genuinely seemed to try really hard and I can’t fault them for their effort. Unfortunately, during our stay there were quite a few guests who were very loud and inconsiderate, and we regularly saw children being left without much supervision. Obviously this isn’t directly the hotel’s fault, but it did affect the overall atmosphere around the pool and entertainment areas. Overall, the hotel is in a brilliant location and there are definitely positives, which is why we returned for a second visit. However, the sunbed situation in particular needs seriously addressing. The 10am opening has created a stressful and potentially dangerous rush every morning that simply wasn’t there when we visited last year.

We stayed first week in August, family of 4, kids aged 9 and 12. Food The was good, even with a picky eater there was always something she would eat. They were replacing dishes regularly. The freshly prepared pizzas and pancakes were a highlight. Yes it can feel bit repetitive at the end of the week but no complaints. The snack bar was also good but at busy times very slow. Rooms The rooms were cleaned daily. We did get fresh towels most days (think 2 days we didn't). There is a lack of storage and felt very small for a family of 4. The air con was awful and only worked if balcony door was shut properly. We ended up keeping the curtains shut to help keep room cooler. We were on 3rd floor so only used lifts on arrival/departure but they often had long queues. Pool This is a huge issue. There are 2 pools and 2 kids pools with slides. They are not big enough for the hotel and are often very crowded. The main pool also hosts games which takes up most of the pool. The pool opens at 10am and there is a queue every day. We only joined this twice, 1st time wasnt too bad but our final day it was very scary and small kids got pushed over. The day we left people had started the queue at 730am!! Several days we managed to get sunbeds after lunch. The 2 days we did a full day at pool several beds were taken but left unused for hours. The hotel really needs to sort this. As per other reviews there are pigeons around the pool area however we saw ground teams staying on top of bins. Its people who don't use them that are causing the problem here. Location The location is fab, there is lots of shops, restaurants and bars just outside and it's a short walk to main strip and beach. The bus stop to portadventura is just down road (across from burger king) and cost us €2.20 each. We got a taxi back as was an 11pm closure which was €14. Entertainment We only did night Entertainment but felt it was poor compared to our previous experience in salou. Whilst this is not the hotel's fault both at night and in pool several families just seemed to let their kids run wild and do what they wanted. For us as non smokers (with an asthmatic) the constant smokers around the pool and at night was really frustrating, there was nowhere to get away from it.

We enjoyed our stay the food was lovely in the restaurant for our young daughter as well, as she can be picky with her food. Room very small for 3 people but we had a lovely view from our balcony over looking the pools and evening entertainment. The swimming pools are lovely our daughter loved the slides she is 9, a shame people still put towels out on the sun beds even though their not using them and there are signs to say no reserving beds but staff should tell them as well. Also there are signs to tell people not to go inside with wet or bare feet but people take no notice and do it anyway so staff should be telling them as the floor was really wet and people were falling over, the lifts and stairs was wet too. The worse part we found about the holiday was the service at the bar and snack bar, very poor service staff walk straight past you and ignore you on occasions we was stood there waiting over half an hour to get food from the snack bar. I think they need to change how the snack bar is done as it’s not quick enough and your going to lose customers returning as we wouldn’t come back again to this hotel.
