The staff are so kind caring and professional. Nothing was too much bother. We were celebrating our golden wedding with our family, so a big age range, 3years to 73 years and all were catered for. The reception staff went over and above their duties, the bar staff were amazing, dining room staff worked so hard. We had a lovely room, 330, a large balcony, the comfiest beds and the room was so clean. Our view was the pool area. The pools were lovely our grandchildren practically lived in the water and we managed to get sun beds together most days. The hotel is quite a short walk to the main shopping area and the beach so really well placed. There was a good selection of food at every meal, much of it freshly cooked. Only tiny criticism was that hot food on trays could have been slightly warmer. Just a lovely family holiday.

Nice hotel but not sure it’s 4* Firstly the hotel is very clean, as are the rooms. They keep everything spotless! Including the pool areas. The rooms are nice but noisy. You can literally hear whole conversations next door, not good at 7am when trying to sleep!! We were initially moved rooms due to being on the first floor and noisy so moved to top floor which was much better, there are no irons available in the rooms or to take out at reception. There is one iron set up in the basement which I had to take clothes down and back up to iron, while sweating in the laundry room! Also, only one washing machine working….after 8 tracks down with washing I finally found a time when I could use it. The pool areas are nice and the kids enjoyed the pool…usual people reserving sunbeds and no chance of getting any for the morning after 9.30am. Breakfast was nice and plenty choice. Pool drinks and cocktails were nice. Would I stay again…no but that’s personal choice as Salou was a base for portaventura. Salou was just not for us, the strip is too busy and not authentic Spanish for us.

When we arrived we were put in a room above the bar- the noise of furniture scraping until 1:30pm meant no one slept the first night. Luckily we were moved the next morning- I assume this is something they’re used to as they didn’t seem atall surprised by the request. The second room was much better. I would advise people to message ahead requesting a room away from the bar to avoid this hassle, especially if you’re travelling with children. The hotel itself is clean and food is pretty good. Shame there’s no outdoor seating at the buffet. It’s not 4 star, I’d say 3 at best. I have no idea where the 4* rating has come from. It’s a very standard hotel. The waterpark nearby is the best bit- such fun. Overall we had a fun stay and paid a fair price for what we got.

Was pleasantly surprised when we checked in and found we were in a 2 bedroom set up, really handy for the kids to have their own room, nice pool view, hotel seemed clean, optimistic for our week here. Unfortunately have returned home feeling a bit “meh” about the holiday. Here’s why- Food - we stayed half board. Breakfast was same items every day, although plenty on offer it got a bit boring towards the end of the week. Other TUI hotels we’ve stayed at mix the dishes up a bit. Lunch and dinner - could always find something to eat, wasn’t blown away but it was fine. Really appreciated the fact you could choose either lunch or dinner on half board as that gave us flexibility in our day. Staff- housekeeping and reception staff pleasant. Bar and restaurant staff were pleasant if you spoke Spanish or had young toddlers/babies with you. Found the attention to service in these areas lacking Pools- small baby pool up a flight of stairs (?) Another small kids pool with small slides. Main pool and pool with inflatable were nice, good temp and pleasant. “Heated” indoor pool was cold! Sunbeds- it’s true about the 8am rush. Yes you can get some beds without reserving but they will likely have no umbrellas as not enough for the number of beds. Unfortunately for 2 of the days we resorted to going down early to bag some beds as it was the only way we could get a day at the pool with our kids to have some shade. This is never something we do but felt we had no choice if we wanted to get some pool time. I do wish hotels would allocate beds or be strict with the no reserving policies they all appear to advertise. Could hire towels for €10 deposit per towel and costs €1 to change them each time for fresh ones Entertainment - shows on each night, indoor area which felt cramped when it was busy. Kids disco 9pm-10pm (which felt a bit late) then main show 10pm-11pm. Location of hotel was 10 min walk to strip/beach area so handy for bars, restaurants etc. Salou - it was so busy! I understand it’s peak holiday season but everywhere seemed rammed from the beaches to the streets. There seemed to be lots of bars, restaurants, arcades, shops but for us we found it too crazy and overwhelming. Craved a quiet spot with no people Portaventura - this was probably the best bit. Not as manic as Disney, more affordable, more laid back vibe, lots of choices of rides for the kids. Def recommend going in the evening after 4pm, could basically walk onto the rides, don’t bother with a fast pass in the evening. Waterpark was good also, again walked onto the rides after 4pm although it’s only open till 7pm, save the more popular rides till later in the day. Another tip - bring hand sanitiser! I unfortunately caught a bout of s&d towards end of holiday. Main symptoms were over within 24 hours however been home a few days now and still feeling very lethargic and not back to normal yet. I’ve no idea where I caught it from but it made me more aware of just how many opportunities for catching something there were, especially when it’s so busy and lots of people touching rides, buffets in hotel etc. Overall kids seemed to have a good time but too crazy for us and need another holiday now to recover!
