We stayed here for a short break from Wednesday 8th April and returned this morning. Overall we had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location is great. It’s only about a 5–7 minute walk into the centre where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and the beach, which made it really convenient. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and housekeeping did a good job each day when requested. The staff were also friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Drinks were good, especially the cocktails, and the food was decent with enough variety for a few days. However, there were a few downsides that did impact our holiday. The biggest issue was the pool – it was absolutely freezing, to the point where it was really unpleasant to use. This was disappointing as even on slightly overcast days we would have happily spent time by the pool with my 7-year-old stepdaughter, but she barely used it because it just wasn’t enjoyable. Heating the pool would make a huge difference to the experience. Another inconvenience was the towel situation. You’re not allowed to use room towels at the pool, but there’s no option to rent pool towels either, so we had to buy our own which added extra hassle and luggage. We were also surprised to find that you have to pay extra to use certain facilities – it’s 4 euros per person for one hour in the indoor pool, and the same again to use the gym. This didn’t feel in line with what you’d expect from an all-inclusive stay. The entertainment was also quite limited. It was mostly in Spanish, which made it difficult for my stepdaughter to engage as she didn’t understand what was being said. As a result, she didn’t really join in. We also found the entertainment a bit boring overall, although the good thing is you can easily walk into the centre for something more lively. Lastly, while the food was fine, I think if we had stayed longer than four nights we would have started to get bored of the options. The hotel also seemed to cater mainly to Spanish guests, which is fine, but worth being aware of. Overall, it’s a decent place for a short stay with a great location, but a few improvements – especially the pool temperature and entertainment – would make a big difference.

As a Brazilian family living in the UK, we visited Hotel Jaime I during the Easter break. While there were many highlights, a few significant issues affected our overall experience, leading to a 4-star rating. The Positives: • Exceptional Staff: The service was the standout feature. Estela (from Ghana) on our floor was amazing and formed a lovely bond with our 4-year-old son, Noah. At reception, Hector and Julia were very attentive and worked hard to manage the incredibly high volume of guests. • Convenience: The location is excellent—close to a nice beach and surrounded by great restaurants. We also loved the RFID bracelet room keys; it’s a fantastic feature that made moving around much easier. • Dining & Rooms: The restaurant offered plenty of variety, and our room appeared recently refurbished, coming well-equipped with a fridge and safe. The Negatives: • Pool & Maintenance: Our stay was marred by the indoor pool being closed for unknown reasons. This was frustrating as the outdoor pool was far too cold to use this time of year. There were also visible renovation works happening throughout the hotel, which impacted the holiday atmosphere. • Water Quality: We found the chlorine levels in the shower water to be quite exaggerated. While we understand the need for hygiene, the chemical scent was very strong and unpleasant for a daily shower. Verdict: The staff and location are 5-star, but the facility issues and the lack of a usable pool during a spring visit were disappointing. We enjoyed our stay, but we hope these maintenance and water quality issues are addressed for future guests.
