“Fantastic hotel, great location”

Amazing hotel, great location and facilities. We booked last minute and so glad we stayed here. Breakfast was fabulous, the roof top bar area and sun beds were comfortable with good atmosphere. Room was spacious and clean. Staff were outstanding, I would definitely recommend.

This was our second visit to this lovely hotel. I put a lot of detail in my previous review, which was March 23 if should anyone be inclined to look. This time we stayed in a level junior suite, which we absolutely loved. There are two styles of junior suite and they are situated on the front corners of the hotel. One which is open plan and faces towards Malaga direction and the other which is a bedroom and separate lounge and these face towards Benalmadena. I prefer the open plan design but have a stronger preference to face towards Benalmadena as you get the sun later on in the day, which in April is lovely. The level offers these things above a 'normal stay' :- 1. Access to The Level, which is on the top of block 2. There is a delightful lounge and pool with lots of parasols. 2. Concierge service at The Level by 3 wonderfully helpful and friendly ladies who are (in alphabetical order) Eva, Jasmine and Patricia. Nothing is too much trouble. They will book restaurants, order out taxis, sort out any room issues etc. There is no need to visit reception on the ground floor after check in. I can't stress how much this service hightened the holiday experience. 3. There are soft drinks and snacks all day. The snacks are mainly sweeties, crisps, nuts, small cakes etc. There is also red, rosé, white wine and cava all day. 4. Breakfast can be taken on the level if preferred. There is mostly everything you could want and it doesn't finish until midday. 5. Every evening between 7 -9 pm they roll out branded spirits and beer. You help yourself. It's all very easy and relaxed. I cannot drink caffeine and am pleased to report that they have caffeine free coke, as well as normal coke. The level is open until about 11pm. The only thing that marred our stay but I have not dropped any stars for, was the scooter situation. Mr J3 has to have a scooter. They are not allowed in the building and have to be retrieved from the garage below. The only access to the garage is down a sloping and winding access road. For anyone with mobility issues, going up or down this access road once dismounted from the scooter is dreadful. The position of this storage area could not actually be any worse for disabled people. We did find that initially we could go down to level -1 in block 2 and exit from the conference room door to the garage which was idea but some jobsworthy person (obviously able bodied) shut and locked the internal door to this room, probably after seeing us on CCTV. I suggested Mr J3 speak to management himself but he said that surely he couldn't be the first person to bring this up and maybe something will get done about it if I put it in my review. So there you have it. Will we go again? We would love to and next visit we would book the master suite but It really depends on the scooter room situation as Mr J3's mobility condition can vary considerably.

We have stayed at this Hotel on a regular basis over the last 4 years and after reading some of the revues this Year I was concerned standards had dropped. How wrong can you be? The staff in every department are friendly polite and professional and work as a Team Rooms are cleaned daily if you wish, and all areas of the hotel were immaculately clean. The Restaurant staff gave you a warm welcome and there was an excellent choice of food. The Public bar has a wide choice of drinks, and the entertainment gets better especially Elvis and J B . We stayed in a level double room which gives access to the level lounge and Pool area. The staff in the level take service to another Level (pardon the pun) and the Three ladies on the desk are to quote Tina Turner ‘simply the best’ especially when Eva smiles. I would also offer the following tips when booking the Hotel to avoid disappointment when you arrive. • Read the Hotels web site which gives you details of all the Hotels facilities. • If you want Sun in the Morning ask for an East facing room when Booking. • If you want Sun in the Afternoon ask for a West facing room when Booking. • If you require a high floor room these are usually Deluxe or the Level Rooms. that can requested when booking. • When you leave the hotel there are two lifts to Torremolinos. One about 400metre away and the other at the side of the Conference Centre which is in use from 10.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 20.00 • I hope the above has been helpful

The hotel accommodation was good, but the food was very disappointing. The breakfast and dinner buffets were dull and uninviting, with similar dishes offered every day. The hotel accommodation was good, but the food was very disappointing. The breakfast and dinner buffets were dull and uninviting, with similar dishes offered every day. Food lacked flavour and was over-cooked. Asparagus, which should be a real treat, was mushy, cold and tasteless. I selected something labelled 'spinach cannelloni' but after swallowing a mouthful of it I realised it was in fact meat cannelloni: being a vegetarian I was upset about this. Restaurant staff seemed stressed and unwelcoming, particularly those who insisted on showing us to tables we did not want to sit at. We stayed at the Melia two years ago and the food was better then. If we stay there again we shall not want to eat there. The hotel's styling is very stark, with little colour. The area around the swimming pool lacks trees and plants and, being at the front of the hotel by the road, is unappealing to relax in. Our bedroom was comfortable and there was a view of the sea. If the food had been satisfactory, the Melia would be very good value.
