On our first visit to Gran Canaria we stayed for a week and really enjoyed our time in this lovely Rui hotel. Our sea view room was large and comfortable and was cleaned daily to a high standard. Staff were polite and helpful, especially the pool attendant at the pool close to the main dining room who warmly welcomed every customer as they collected their towels. The gardens were stunning and provided a luxurious environment for a relaxing holiday. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and the restaurant staff were efficient, ensuring there was a wide choice of food available each day and that we never had to wait to be seated. Our only complaints would be; being asked to pay an additional charge for the room safe which, in our extensive experience, is standard even in a three star establishment. The dressing gowns were a nice touch but slippers would have been a welcome addition as would a basic comfort pack especially a shower which is usually provided. Melonares is an upmarket resort and we enjoyed trying out the wide range of local restaurants available. There are many top class hotels located in the area and we would definitely return. At the time we visited there were very few children staying at the hotel although it was the Easter school break. We did feel that it wasn’t a suitable hotel to bring our grandchildren to as it appeared to be aimed at older couples. We would definitely return to Melonares and would recommend it to friends looking for a quiet relaxed holiday .

Our third visit, consistently excellent! This is a great hotel if you’re a couple or single person, it does have facilities for children but seems to cater more for customers without. The staff are without exception, friendly and helpful. Standards across food, housekeeping, pools, gardens, general service etc have remained consistently high since our first visit here in 2021. One of the things we love about Riu hotels is how kind the staff are, we’ve stayed in many and watch as they are always quick to help older customers who are a little unsteady on their feet or parents juggling multiple plates of children’s foods. Top tip: There’s a tucked away and very under used spa, with a gorgeous jacuzzi in the same building as the gym. I only discovered it this trip & found it empty every day! Meloneras is a lovely location for relaxing, very peaceful with lots of food options and great venues for a drink with a gorgeous sea view. The restaurants closest to the hotel range in terms of service and quality, (ideal for a light lunch) you’re better to walk further along past the lighthouse if you are looking for a great meal. There’s a lovely promenade so early morning runs/ strolls or bike rides are very convenient.

Extremely well run, clean & welcoming. A nice gym, pools, public areas. All as one would expect for its rating. We only ate in the main restaurant, so cannot comment on the themed offerings.
