We have just returned from a very enjoyable week's stay at this stunning hotel. We wanted a relaxing break in relaxing surroundings and this ticked every box. The hotel is set in lovely grounds over a large area. We were in Block 5, handy for the main building, where the dining room, bar areas and one of the pools were situated. Our 3rd floor room was well appointed and we enjoyed excellent daily room service. The large dining room operates a 2 sitting arrangement in the evening with an allocated table given on arrival. We experienced queuing some evenings with diners all arriving as the sitting started to avoid being rushed to finish. There was a wide selection of food with at least two cooked to order areas. Breakfast was a more relaxed arrangement as you could sit anywhere and turn up anytime during the breakfast period. Similarly wide selection of food, hot and cold and two cooked to order areas. Nice breakfast touches include pink and white Cava available each day, a honeycomb to obtain fresh honey and table service of pots of fresh coffee and milk. We found the bar staff friendly and efficient and really enjoyed the cocktails. One other nice touch that we discovered was free tea and pastries each day from 3pm to 5pm in the Library. The hotel is a complex rather than a building or series of identical buildings. It has a central main structure that forms the reception, main restaurant and theatre. The grounds around the buildings enjoy the benefit of being host to an amazing tropical garden of beautiful mature trees and plants and of incredible variety. This means almost everywhere on the complex one enjoys lovely natural surroundings including within the main building. Rooms vary based on what you have booked from suites down. Our room (a double) was well appointed and furnished although the style chosen does have a dated appearance, which TBH it is not, it is just the style. Access to the facilities of the resort are very close to hand given it is not a large place and the hotel is relatively close to everything. A nearby shopping centre gives very local access to anything you might want to buy during your stay. On Fridays there is a market in the street outside the hotel. A bonus of the hotel is that it has a 37 place under ground car park for those that have chosen to hire a car. I believe there is an additional car park available if needed. Food in the main restaurant is buffet style and very good indeed. The staff there are very helpful. We took the plus package which included drink but (as we found out) only drink in the restaurant. So load up there and take away at the end of your meal. BTW lunch is never include in any packages. There is an interesting archaeological site on the hill above the complex. Up to you if you like that sort of thing but it does afford great views of the resort. The 2 pools. are large and they try to make one a quite pool for adults and the other for families. This is not enforced rigorously but seems to almost work. There are other sporting facilities and services from Tennis, bowling, Exercise classes etc. Overall a very good hotel that we recommend without reserve.

I recently visited the Cordial Mogan Playa,located at Mogan,Gran Canaria recently and felt my experience could be beneficial to other travellers considering staying at this hotel resort.I have visited the area of Mogan on several occasions for day trips over the years and have loved this beautiful area and decided to book to stay here for my holiday.The hotel lobby is very impressive and spotlessly clean.I received a warm welcome from reception staff at check in and was offered a welcome drink of either orange juice or Prosecco,which was a nice touch.I I did not have to provide a credit card upon check,as is the case with so many other hotel resorts and I was given a password for the free hotel Wi-Fi.The rooms and suites are arranged over a sprawling area in blocks.My room was very clean,the air conditioning was good and was individual climate controlled,not centrally controlled from reception,which I was very glad of.There were a selection of toiletries and kettle with tea and coffee supplies,including a coffee maker with a couple of pods supplied.There was also a fridge in my room with 2 small welcome bottles of water.I had a nice balcony with table and chairs,which overlooked one of the pools.There were twin beds pushed together in my room with only 1 pillow each,however there were more in the cupboard.Storage space was adequate,the furnishings however,are beginning to show their age and the tv looked old,with the only English channels being BBC1,BBC news and Sky news.I was very surprised to discover that face/wash cloths are not provided in the bathroom and the towels are thin,discoloured,old and tatty,the worst I have seen for any hotel in some time.I soon discovered too that the in room toiletries,tea bags,coffee pods,sugar and milk supplies are not replaced after check in,which I found to be extremely’penny pinching’ for what is meant to be a top resort.I also discovered that there is a €2.60 daily charge to use the in room safe and,as I had not been informed of this by reception staff at check in,I had to shortly go all the way back to request use of a safe and subsequently pay for that too.I would like to ask management why these cutbacks are necessary as,each day when I arrived back to my hotel in the evening,the room maids had left lights on in my room all day,needless to do this and indeed costs money and I know my room had been cleaned early in the morning each day.The water from my shower in my room changed frequently from hot to cold,within a couple of seconds,with no warning.There are bars,restaurants,library and gymnasium in the hotel also.A room key is needed to enter various areas of the resort,which for security can be useful but I found this a bit problematic whilst waiting at the hotel for my return transfer to the airport as I was confined to the lobby and library..The hotel is situated in a very good location,about a 5 to 7 minute walk to Puerto Mogan harbour/centre.There is a small shopping area opposite the hotel with a good sized supermarket.The breakfast buffet is good with a big selection of foods.I stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and ate other meals at restaurants in Mogan centre/harbour front,so cannot comment on evening meals at the hotel.There are 2 large pools with towels provided,spa,there is also a beautiful cactus garden and church in the hotel grounds,which are kept in immaculate condition.For me,the biggest asset for the hotel is the staff members,they were always very helpful,friendly and efficient,and should received recognition for being so.I had a good stay at this hotel overall and facilities are also good but I will not return.I feel that the rooms do need refurbished and the ‘penny pinching’with tea and coffee supplies and toiletries and charge for room safe really reflect badly on the hotel.For me personally,having to buy tea/coffee/milk/sugar/paying for in room safe may not be a massive issue but considering this is a 4 star hotel,these should be included daily,this is the first hotel I have come across where this is not the case.For me,next time I am going to book to stay at a different hotel resort in Mogan.This is a great shame but I am sure I am not the only person who would have these opinions.However,again thank you to all the staff members at Cordial Mogan Playa,you should be applauded for the excellent job you do at the resort and the pride you take in your work but to management,I would say the rooms need refurbished also.

“Absolutely lovely!”

Absolutely lovely. Great hotel, clean, manicured, friendly, helpful staff, good food, perfect location. Rooms are traditional and this is part of the charm. The only reason I haven’t given 5* is because the beds were two metal framed singles pushed together… they were comfortable though!!
