Secrets was such a lovely Resort for us to visit. Staff are all very helpful and welcoming. Hotel was clean and tidy. Freshwater pools were well maintained every morning. There is a trend of guests putting their towels out early to reserve beds. However the hotel does state that after 60 minutes towels and belongings will be removed if not used in that time. Food was plentiful. Lots of choices in all restaurants. We aren’t vegan or vegetarian so can’t comment on those choices but plenty of meat options. Other reviews have stated that the hotel is tired/dated. The hotel felt relatively modern to us. Yes, there is some wear and tear on parts of the property but it is used 52 weeks of the year by guests. Not all guests will be respectful of the property. You can not expect to visit a hotel and it be showroom quality 365 days a year. It was clean and tidy. Rooms cleaned daily too. Overall we will be going back. We said everyday of our visit how lovely the hotel was. Thank you Secrets Lanzarote for such a wonderful stay and memories.

We have just returned from our third visit to Secrets Lanzarote, and it is still without doubt our favourite place to stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and has such a relaxing atmosphere, but what truly makes Secrets so special is its incredible team. The staff and service have been wonderful on every visit, and we genuinely believe they are the very best. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and professional, and there are so many people who deserve a special mention. At Portofino, special thanks to Andrei, Yoyi and Carla. We remembered Yoyi from last year and were greeted with a huge hug when we saw her again, which was such a lovely welcome. She is simply wonderful. And Carla was absolutely amazing as well – she remembered us from previous years and even remembered that we like a table outside. She is exceptional at what she does and truly excels at guest care. At the Piano Bar, Danny and Arturo were fantastic. Danny is incredibly professional and does everything so meticulously, with such artistry and sophistication. He is genuinely a joy to watch at work. Arturo remembered us from previous years and made us feel so welcome. He genuinely seemed pleased to see us, always made a fuss of us and nothing was ever too much trouble. It was also wonderful to see Luis, who we knew from Oceana on previous visits and is now at Bluewater Grill. He is as gracious as ever and a consummate professional. Yoel at Bluewater Grill was also incredibly kind and attentive. At World Café, Nicoll, Chen, Izan, Pooja and Hermoson all looked after us so well and were consistently attentive. We also saw Pooja working in Portofino in the evenings, and she is such a friendly and kind person. Jose at Oceana was brilliant too. We really enjoyed chatting with him about the time he had spent in the UK, and again he made us feel so welcome. There are two people, however, to whom we want to give an extra-special thank you. Firstly, Rubén, as always. Rubén is very special to us and seeing him again has become part of what we love about returning to Secrets. He doesn’t speak English and we don’t speak Spanish, yet he proves that you don’t always need a shared language to communicate. We always manage to have such fun with him. He makes us feel incredibly special and welcome, he is consistently brilliant at what he does, and seeing him is always one of the highlights of our holiday. There are some people whose warmth and personality simply transcend language, and Rubén is one of them. And an equally special thank you must go to Majo, who we met for the first time this year. What an absolute credit she is to the hotel. Of everyone, Majo probably looked after us the most during this holiday – she seemed to be everywhere! We saw her most days in World Café as well as at Bluewater Grill and Portofino, and wherever she was working she was fun, warm, attentive and completely professional. One of our favourite memories from this holiday was Majo helping us to learn bits of Spanish. It became a running joke that whenever we ordered from her, we had to try to do it in Spanish! We absolutely loved it, and she has actually inspired me to want to learn the language properly. Lanzarote has become incredibly special to us. In fact, our last six holidays have all been to Lanzarote because we have completely fallen in love with the island. Secrets in particular has become somewhere we love returning to, and a huge part of that is because of its amazing team. When you return somewhere and people remember you, greet you with hugs, make a fuss of you and genuinely seem happy to see you again, it makes a hotel feel like so much more than simply somewhere you are staying. I only wish I could remember the names of every member of staff we encountered because every single one of them deserves a mention. From morning until night, the warmth, professionalism and genuine hospitality of the team are what make this hotel so special. Thank you to everyone at Secrets Lanzarote for another wonderful holiday and for making our third stay every bit as special as the previous two. Three visits down, and without question, we will be back. ❤️

We were originally supposed to stay for seven nights, but on the third day we decided to cut our stay short and leave three nights early. This wasn’t really the hotel’s fault, but we found there simply wasn’t enough around the hotel to keep us entertained. If you enjoy going out for meals and exploring different restaurants, this probably isn’t the best location. There isn’t much around the hotel, and although the marina is only a short walk away, there isn’t a great deal there either. The hotel itself was mostly great, and our room was lovely. Most of the staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. Unfortunately, there were also a few members of staff who came across as rude or miserable, as though they couldn’t be bothered speaking to guests. There are, however, a few things that let the hotel down and, in my opinion, stop it from being a true five-star experience. Firstly, the 3pm check in needs to be evaluated here we arrived at 10:30am and had to wait till 3pm to get into our room and even then it wasn’t ready yet. I have never arrived at a hotel and been made to wait till 3pm for our room. Maybe the check out needs to be moved forward to 10/11am like most other hotels and check in be made earlier we booked direct and no where did it say check in was 3pm Secondly, the sunbeds are a major issue. On most days, if you didn’t get down to the pool before around 9am, it was almost impossible to get a sunbed. Many guests leave towels on sunbeds for hours without actually using them, and the hotel doesn’t seem to do anything about it. This is particularly frustrating when you are paying for a five-star hotel and expect a certain level of service. Thirdly, the Havana pool bar is far too small for the size of the hotel and the number of pools. There also don’t seem to be enough staff working there. At times, we waited more than 10 minutes just to be served. In contrast, the Preferred Club pool area is much smaller but has a huge bar and noticeably more attention. It sometimes feels as though the hotel is primarily focused on its Preferred Club guests, which is disappointing for those who are paying to stay at the hotel but aren’t part of the club. Finally, the hotel advertises rooms as having a minibar, but we didn’t have one in our room. This may have been because we booked bed and breakfast, but personally, if a minibar is advertised as a room facility, I would expect there to be one regardless of the board basis, even if the items inside were chargeable. This is something many other five-star hotels provide. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and the hotel has a lot going for it, particularly the rooms and many of the staff. However, there are several areas where it falls short of what I would expect from a five-star experience. In my opinion, the hotel is much closer to a five-star experience if you are staying in the Preferred Club, but as a standard guest, some of the facilities and service levels don’t quite live up to the five-star rating.
