We stayed as a family of 4 in August/September 2023. The transfer from the airport was ridiculously long as you drive up the coast then come back down each cove so would recommend a private transfer. Upon arrival there was a good selection of cold food for us in the restaurant which was a pleasant surprise. The food throughout the holiday was pretty good despite the restaurant being relatively small. Breakfast was probably the best meal of the day and during the afternoon the snack bar was open if you needed topping up so to speak. There was only one night throughout our stay where we really struggled to find something and chose to eat out. The hotel itself is set on a beautifully rocky headland which overlooks the Mediterranean and you can watch the boats from your sun-lounger as they sail by. Our room had a great view over the sea and was large enough for a family of 4 but there simply wasn't enough storage. There was one wardrobe in the side bedroom and other than two little bedside tables and the kitchen cupboards that was it. Generally the hotel itself was pretty clean in both the hotel and pool areas. Entertainment was as in most all-inclusive hotels a little bit iffy. On the negative side of things. The hotel is massively geared to the French market and there is always a feeling that everyone else is just making up the numbers. There are two sets of entertainment staff, ones with white t-shirts are general hotel entertainment and the ones with pink t-shirts literally babysit the French teenagers. This emphasizes the them and us mentality. Getting to Cala d'or itself is a nightmare. There is the little train that passes right outside the hotel but that is more than often full and doesn't run at night. Walking to Cala d'or is a long haul as you have to walk from the hotel to the marina and then literally all the way round the whole inlet. Its nice to see the boats once or twice but its literally miles of a journey. Now here is the big secret that nobody wants you to know.....taxis are like rocking horse poo in the whole area. We asked the hotel if they would book one and they said we could be waiting for an hour. There simply aren't enough of them. There are taxi ranks everywhere but not a taxi to be seen. Apparently after Covid nobody returned to driving taxis. We stood for hours along with many other people waiting for one and they never come so we ended up walking into Cala Egos which is the local town which again is fine once or twice but once you've seen the market a couple of times it gets a bit boring. Our main concern with the hotel itself was the security. There isn't any...at all. The hotel is on both sides of a road that goes around the headland and anyone could walk into the grounds and all parts of the hotel if they wanted to. All gates and doors are left open including the side gate which is right next to the childrens area and the football pitch where the kids play and there are no cameras other than one plastic fake one nailed to a tree. On one occasion one of the parents had to ask a local man who either drunk or not with it, to leave the football pitch. The hotel has lots of potential but its a million miles away from where it should be in comparison to other family hotels we have stayed at.
