Here is the unfiltered truth. First Impressions & The 30-Second Tent The hotel reception staff are incredibly helpful and armed with multiple languages. Thanks to our holiday organisers, we walked into a room upgrade. The adults were handed delicious fizz, the kids got water, and we were all given exclusive-access wristbands. There’s a locked luggage room (interestingly, devoid of cameras from what I can see) and a gorgeous, bright, and airy Starcafé lounge perfect for waiting for coaches. This lounge features a kids' play area with small sun-patterned tents, mini sofas, and books, cleverly designed to amuse your children for exactly 30 seconds before they demand a snack. The Room, The Sleep, & The Ant Wars Our white-washed apartment was spotless and practically laid out. The kids each had a single bed in the living room area, positioned right in front of the TV. I spent the first evening briefly debating if I could convince them to swap sleeping arrangements so I could have the TV all to myself, but sadly, maturity prevailed. The room has plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, a safe, and a mini-fridge that gets stocked with a small assortment of drinks the day after you arrive. During the day, you can use the provided cushions to turn the kids' beds into a sofa, which is a great touch. Out on the balcony, you get a drying rack—an absolute necessity for the endless cycle of wet swimwear. Pro-tip: bring additional pegs so you can hang more wet stuff on the balcony, as the drying rack has limited space. Sleep-wise, the blackout curtains do their job brilliantly, and the air-con is incredible. You can hear the evening entertainment from the main stage, but it’s not loud enough to stop you from sleeping (though obviously, this depends on where your apartment is located). Now, a brief warning for those terrified of nature: on three separate occasions, our apartment was breached by a small scouting party of ants. I took this as a personal slight against my territory and ruthlessly slaughtered the invaders with a tactical blast of insect repellent. Problem solved. A massive shoutout to the housekeeping team, who were wonderful. On the day of arrival, we came to find they had drawn a gorgeous pink giraffe in a dry-erase marker on our mirror with the words "Enjoy Your Stay." It’s the little things. They later left a second, incredibly sweet printed note alongside some chocolates that read: "We hope these chocolates bring a smile to your face and sweeten your day. We wish you wonderful moments and a more than well-deserved rest in our home." It genuinely made us feel so welcome. The Saloon Toilets & The Jet Wash The kids' communal toilets around the resort are an architectural comedy. They feature saloon-style swinging doors perfectly sized for toddlers so you can keep an eye on them. Brilliant for independence! Except, there is no hand wash with the sinks inside the cubicles. It is the Wild West of toilette training—great for building character, terrible for immediate hand hygiene. That’s okay though, they can just use the adult-sized ones with the kids' stall to assist them with reaching the taps and soap. Back in the room, the shower head can be changed to a jet-wash setting, which is incredibly useful for blasting Majorcan sand off your shins at the end of the day. Otherwise, use the showers built around the pools to save yourself a small walk. The Water Kingdom & Sunbed Etiquette There are approximately six pools here, meaning you are never far from chlorinated chaos. The kids' pools are fantastic. The "Castle Pool" features tiny toddler slides and stone steps. But the main event is a giant bouncy water-cushion fitted with rock-climbing grips. Water shoots out the top for maximum sliding speed. It takes sheer determination for a 4-year-old to conquer it, my daughter finally did! For the adults and pro-swimmers, there’s a rocky forestry path (hidden behind greenery that only an irresponsible parent would let their child explore alone) leading to the edge of the cliffs. Here, bolted directly into the rock face at the bottom leading into the open ocean, is a metal "ladder of doom" for the brave. We safely admired it from a distance. Unlike some resorts, the sunbed situation here never felt like a war. If you want a guaranteed premium spot and have absolutely no qualms about bringing stereotypical British culture to Spain, you can absolutely answer the 6:00 AM wake-up call to go plant your flag (towel). Don’t ask how they did…but for those who actually enjoy a lie-in on holiday, the gates to the sunbeds don't officially open until 08:45 on the dot. Foam Runways & The Inflatable Octopus If you are looking for peace and quiet, I highly advise against sitting by the kids' pool, the bouncy cushion pool, or the pool situated next to the food trucks. Some days, these pools turn into an absolute rave, complete with a giant inflatable octopus with a DJ hiding inside it dropping beats. It’s awesome. A couple of times, they rolled out a slippery foam runway. Naturally, I gave it a go. I fell flat on my stomach in the first quarter, my belly hitting the mat before my hands did. Did I give up? No. I army-crawled my way to the end of that runway and plunged into the pool, fueled entirely by the roar of the crowd and the sheer entertainment on my kids' faces. Capturing the Chaos If you want to prove to your friends back home that your kids were actually angelic at least once on this trip, keep an eye out for the professional photographer. They walk around the pools every day, effortlessly capturing the most lovely, natural angles of the kids enjoying the water. We decided to splash a little cash at the hotel's photo shop and bought a package of 30 photos for around €85. The process was super easy—everything was sent digitally via email and is available to download and forward. Worth every penny. Dining: The Chaotic Harmony of the Buffet Plate The food is everything you expect from a massive all-inclusive, but with phenomenal variety. We dined at Baleares, Migjorn, and Es Molí, and even managed to snag a highly coveted reservation at the Beach House (book this early, it fills up fast!). The main chef's dish changes daily, ensuring things stay interesting, but there is also a constant, sprawling assortment of hams, cheeses, fresh fruit, and vegetables. They offer brilliant accommodations for vegans, vegetarians, and those needing dairy-free products, not to mention desserts galore. I’d include photos of all these incredible choices, but honestly, I was simply too busy stuffing my face. The beauty of the buffet is the absolute lack of culinary rules. One of my lunch choices was a plate of chaotic harmony—sushi, chow mein noodles, and massive spring rolls, washed down with a crisp, cold beer. The real lifesavers, though, are the food trucks dotted near the pools. When your child is on the verge of a meltdown, immediate access to popcorn chicken, hot dogs, and chips is a blessing. Oh, and the dedicated ice cream shop serves its scoops in edible waffle bowls and is open until 10pm. The Animation Team (Absolute Heroes) & Staff Culture The chefs and gardeners are extremely busy—you’re lucky to get an "Hola" out of them, which is fair enough. The bar staff are a mixed bag; some clearly didn't want to be there, but I can't complain because my drinks were always served fast, cold, and tasted great. (Also, thank you Google Translate for carrying my feeble attempts at Spanish. Some staff appreciated it, while others gently requested I just speak English. Fair play.) But the Animation Team? They deserve the highest, loudest applause. Every single night is a different spectacular: ABBA tributes, Jurassic, Space, rock and roll. They never force anyone into the spotlight, but they give the kids endless high-fives, cuddles, and jokes. They run all kinds of activities in the day and perform in the night. They are superhuman. The Star Camp Kids Club (ages 0-3) is incredibly sweet. They give the kids waterproof high-vis vests for pool trips so you don't lose track of them. I will swear on Patrick Swayze, however, that 4 and 5-year-olds were definitely sneaking into those ranks. The Eclipse We were lucky enough to be there during a solar eclipse, and the hotel made a massive event out of it. We had to queue up and sign legal waivers just to use their eclipse glasses, but they actively guided guests to the best local viewing spots to catch the glowing crescent. It was genuinely exciting and wonderfully handled. The Nemesis: Wi-Fi & The Sauna of Broken Dreams A good review requires brutal honesty, so here are the warnings. First: The Arcade Room. This place is an absolute sauna. It is hot, lacks air conditioning, and is filled with tired, Euro-eating machines. Second: The Hotel Wi-Fi. We’ve spent the entire day swimming, eating, and playing. We are sun-baked, factor-50-soaked, and exhausted. The kids are knackered. We make it back to the room, hoping to fire up some downloaded Disney+ and drift into a peaceful coma. Instead, I am met with the spinning wheel of death. I paid €16.50 for a weekly data pass, a transaction I now view as a charitable donation because both network and Wi-Fi clearly retired way earlier than expected. Instead of relaxing, my evenings consisted of battling captive portal login loops, dropped connections, and the agonizing frustration of trying to hotspot my own mobile data to three other devices. The Verdict: Would we come back? Yes. The foam party, the pristine pathways, the filtered water stations, and the sheer scale of entertainment provides a perfect family holiday, but next time, I’m avoiding the arcade and bringing my own cell tower.
