This hostel is within walking distance of the old town, the main shopping street and the harbour. Could not fault it. Spotlessly clean, with double bedrooms as well as accommodation for groups, it has a roof terrace with sun loungers and views over the city. The rooms are spacious with good size bathrooms and everything seems to be very new. The staff were very friendly, speak English and know the area. We received a recommendation for a cafe (Buena Vista)to go to for breakfast (plus a coupon for 10%off) and this cafe, also within very short walking distance was absolutely fabulous. We went there on a Saturday and it was extremely busy untill about 9.30. On Sunday we had no problem getting a table. Our trip included the Roman festivities and we intended to sit on the tribune to watch the battle. (3 euro) However, when we arrived about an hour befor battle began, all the tickets had been sold. So I would advise anybody wanting to see this event to go try and get entry tickets as early as possible. as we did not get into the battleground (At the bottom of the university campus, we walked to the next event near the harbour and sat on the tribune there (free entry) and waited for the spectacle to begin. As this event was close to the harbour, we went to the underwater museum, which was free entry on Saturdays. In the evening we watched the procession through the main street. chairs are provided alongside the road and one can hire one for three euros, which is well worth it, as the processions are very long.. On Sunday we went on foot to a lot of the local sight seeing spots and found out that the castle on top of the hill (Not far from the Loop Inn, was free entry on Sundays) There are amazing views as well as interesting Exhibits in the castle. The whole trip to cartagena was amazing and we could not have wished for a better place to stay, especially if on a budget. Would return to the Loop Inn anytime.

Wonderfully nice surprise arriving at this hostel. Expectations never too high at this price point. But my needs are fairly simple. Check in very easy, I had booked on Last Minute. Room wasn’t ready so stashed bag and went out to explore the town. On my return, I went to a very clean, sunny room on the second floor. This was November and the room was very warm. The rooms face southwest, so they get a little of sun in the afternoon. Lovely in November, but I’d be concerned about July. Rooms do have aircon, hopefully that would be effective. Room perfect for my needs, two people may find it very cosy. No wardrobe, just shelves. A stool and a chair, which was put to good use on those sunny afternoons on the small terrace. I was impressed by the shower, both a drench shower and hand held in a separate wet room, lots of space. Toilet was by front door with a sink in the room. No fridge. There’s a separate kitchen where one could prepare simple meals, and there is a dining area. In the basement there are vending machines with sweets and soft drinks. There is also a laundry room. €5 to wash and dry. Machines could hold a much larger load than I brought. All in all I found the place great. A few negatives to be aware of. As it’s located very near the transport hubs, there do seem to be some shady characters in the streets. To access the hotel, it’s necessary to walk up some daily steep stairs. There is a side road at C. San Crispín. Stayed one night longer than I had planned and I was allowed to move to another room, as the one I’d been in is always booked by a returning customer. Second room, just as nice. €39 which was very reasonable. Lastly, the hostel has a sun terrace a separate smoking terrace on the roof and something I’d never seen in a hostel before, a big tunnel slide over three floors. Great for kids (& naughty adults I assume). A great find, I would heartily recommend, oh, and the reception staff were all unfailingly lively.

“Great location and friendly staff”

The location is great, it is a short walk to the old center of town, but also close to the train and bus stations. I arrived early, but that was no problem and we could check in. The staff was friendly and helpful whenever we asked them about anything. The only downside to the stay was the cleaning… more

The location is great, it is a short walk to the old center of town, but also close to the train and bus stations. I arrived early, but that was no problem and we could check in. The staff was friendly and helpful whenever we asked them about anything. The only downside to the stay was the cleaning could have been better. But I will recommend people to stay at the place.

due to some unforeseen circumstances had to make an emergency booking at a 15-minute notice, during the highest peak of the season in Cartagena, and this place delivered. This is a typical hostel, which charges you additionally if you don't bring towels and linen down to the reception at the end of your stay, the room was tiny, but served its purpose. And even if its freaking hot outside, the temperature inside remains at acceptable levels. Parking on the street, space may or may not be available, and if available, may require some acrobatics to fit.
