“Nice stay very good food”

The hotel was good and the food was very good. The only downside was that all the entertainment for guests was in Spanish, not English. The bartenders were not very friendly either.

Check in was a long queue and we waited over an hour for this service in midday heat with no air con. We had a room upgrade to overlook the Mar Menor and while the views were beautiful the room was in dire need of a makeover, air conditioning was unacceptable and after reporting this we were told it was working but if we couldn’t sleep to come back, we were then issued with a fan. Dinner on the first night was a huge issue, no order whatsoever, sweat fest, lukewarm food…never went back, although lunch was acceptable, at times it was a hit or a miss. The area to the back of the pool where the sunbeds are had a terrible smell of sewage for our whole stay and the pool toilets also often had a terrible smell. Pavel at reception knowledgeable and helpful about local restaurants. Bar staff at the pool bar all very good, service with a smile and learned our order quickly. There are no facilities on the day of check out to get a shower, which was disappointing.

We are currently here. Staying for ten nights on the 09th floor. Tbh, I am pretty gutted we are here for ten nights. The Spanish people - the hotel is 90% occupied by Spanish guests and the rest of the guests are not catered to well as a result. For example, apart from Daniel on reception and one other lady no one speaks English. Even the entertainment team, kids club, chefs, waiters, bar staff, all speak Spanish only. I am gutted for my son as the kids club is a tiny glass room. Rubbish. No friends made on this holiday, kids disco is not great and a pitiful kids club where he can’t communicate with anyone. This is not a family hotel. Rooms: Firstly, the rooms are small if there is more than two of you. We are 3 in an un refurbished room, it’s fine, just small and missing things like tea/coffee. The safe wasn’t attached to the wall, and you have to pay 15 euros to use it for your stay. They did come to fix that. Not the end of the world. The balcony is loose and the key cards regularly stop working. Doesn’t sound like a big deal unless you try to get a lift!! You also can’t speak to reception by phone. QR code log only!!! Cleaners are persistent even when you hang your do not disturb sign. I’m not sure why, as they don’t even change the bedding. We have been here for a week and it’s not been changed once. The towels are changed if you place them on the floor. Dirty glasses left for days on end. Sometimes loo roll is replenished, mostly to be fair. Rooms are not sound proofed well at all. You can hear people’s alarms going off and hear the showers and their conversations in the hallway and all the way up to the lifts. Blackout is good in the rooms so you will get a decent dark nights rest if the blinds work in your room. My parents are in a refurbished room on the 1st floor and the blinds don’t work. The beds aren’t the most comfortable, don’t expect a duvet anywhere. Beds are Perfectly fine but one side of our mattress is slightly collapsed. Just tired but they are working their way around to refurbish so…. Food - it’s fine. Not luxurious, but monotonous. The food is rarely labelled, the English is barely there so, good luck identifying what you are eating or if you have any intolerances. FYI - you are not allowed to take drinks out of the dining hall, plates, cutlery etc. The Spanish like to eat later so go earlier to avoid busier times. They always run out of food early and don't replenish. 30 mins before closing you eat what’s left basically. It’s hard to communicate with anyone in the dining hall as no one speaks English. That’s a problem here, although we are in Spain so… Communal areas - The pool area is small. Pool is too small for the number of guests. So much so, you are not allowed to play ball or use pool toys. Miserable. The showers and Astro turf is tired and needs to be replaced, the pool steps are broken meaning the last step is an absolute stride to get out. If you have any knee problems it is a hard NO. The pool bar is the main bar and you will only be served a maximum of two drinks per person. Not ideal if you are a family of 4 etc and your kids are in the pool. You are given tokens at the start of your stay to redeem towards a clean poolside cup. Hold on to these, you need them to get a drink or a snack, a snack is crisps. Pathetic. Ice creams not replenished and are charged at 2 euros each along with bottled water. Only one kids ice lolly is included in the all inclusive. The pool is opposite a public beach and is only seperated by a pathway. The hotel grounds are not secure. I was so nervous letting my child move around by himself. Terrible. Evening entertainment - couldn’t tell you. What I can tell you is karaoke is classed as entertainment….if you overlook the pool god help you. We are praying for your ears. Doors shut, blinds down, curtains closed you can still hear every note. Ears are bleeding. They have an arcade although it has been closed most nights and no staff member knows when it will be open. Otherwise it’s pool tables x 4 which are charged at 2 euros per table. UNBELIEVABLE. The lifts. DISGRACEFUL!!!! 5 lifts for 10 floors of guests. 2 only stop at the odd floors and 2 only stop at even floors. One goes to all floors. My parents have mobility issues and were placed on the first floor where no lift usually stops. God knows what would happen in the event of a fire. Can take them 30 minutes to get up or down at busy times. Allow 10 minutes to get a lift at meal times if you are on a high floor. Car Park is charged at 15 euros per day. It’s open air, not secure. It has a barrier, that’s all. The open air car park opposite is free and is overlooked by the hotel.

Hotel guests were 85% Spanish, mainly eldery, not many foreign tourists. Hotel staff speaks minimum English. Superior rooms are renovated and on the high floors, so are the way to go. Lifts are however extremely slow, a very long wait every time. There's a lagoon beach with sunbeds adjacent to the hotel or you can cross the road and enjoy the public beach on the sea side. Parking at the hotel costs extra, however there is a large paved parking lot right across the road that is free of charge. Food - alright, plenty to choose from. Hotel was sold out on our dates, but we still managed to get a seat and food quite quickly. You get beer/wine included with dinner (or lunch if you choose full board). No coffee with dinner for some reason (machines are on only for breakfast). All inclusive pricing didn't make sense - half board was only 10% more expensive, than just a room rate, while all inclusive was 2x of half board rate. Drink prices are reasonable at the bars, though. The only issue is that you can't charge drinks to the room, so have to carry cash/card with you to pay for the drinks. For plastic cups for pool/beach you also need to carry tokens with you. Pool towels - you need a 10 EUR per towel cash deposit for each towel.
