Just got back from RH Royal. Absolutely superb Hotel. Staff friendly, always smiling. David was an excellent entertainer around the pool getting people to participate in the games. He was very funny and broke up the day from sunbathing. The Hotel need to make sure they don’t lose him. Food was excellent. I am a fussy eater and the choice was exceptional. Rooms were excellent. They have just had a refurbishment and were really nice. Thank you to all the staff for a fantastic holiday and we are coming back in September. Can’t wait.

“Great hotel location good food, clean”

Lovely hotel. Rooms were great and beds were comfortable. It was clean too. We enjoyed the food and the restaurant was run really well. There were 4 of us and we wanted to sit together, staff ensured we had a suitable table each day. Most of staff were really friendly and helpful. A couple of the bar staff (men) I found not as friendly. This doesn’t include the bar staff guy who could dance. He was lovely and kept us entertained in the evening, With his superb Spanish dancing along with the lovely female bar staff member. We sometimes found we couldn’t get seating in the lounge when the entertainment was on but it didn’t matter as we walked out into the old town and along the sea front to the bars there, where there is entertainment if you want it. Towels on sunbeds was a bit annoying as some people didn’t use them much but kept their towels on them. Nothing was too much trouble for the majority of the staff. Keep up the good work.

First time in Benidorm and was surprised that there was lots to like. The hotel was fine but there was definitely room for improvement. The location of the hotel was excellent a short 5-10 min walk down to the beach and lots of lovely cobbled streets etc nearby. Staff were generally friendly and available to answer questions and quickly cleared tables etc. The pool area was disappointing - whilst the hotel have tried to make the most of the space - and the pool itself was spotless - the sunbeds are very limited with people reserving all day. The shade also means that by around late lunch half the area is shaded over. There is a solarium but this can only be accessed up around 20 steps and due to mobility problems for my mum we could avail of these but they did seem to get the sun most of the afternoon. We stayed half board and whilst you won't go hungry you are unlikely to get enough variety to go every day. I would say we did breakfast around 50% of our time there and dinner around 60%. I found breakfast very basic for a 4 star and quite limited in terms of fruit. Pastries were very dense (oddly we bought some from the local supermarket one morning instead and these were beautiful and light and fluffy). The juice in the morning was always warm so not very palatable in the heat. The evening meal was super repetitive and very limited - as is normal the food is just about warm so if you are a fussy eater that combination of limited choice and semi warm is not great. Every night without fail there were at least 2-3 tables with guests who walked up to the buffet and came back with nothing complaining. To be fair there was always basics like chips, cold meat, cheese etc. We spoke to a number of people who are repeat guests and they commented on how disappointed they were this time with the food quality and choice. As with the morning pastries any evening pastry or custard type dessert wasn't edible but they usually have a range of mini jellies or cream sponge things which all tasted the same. Whilst we didn't avail of it due to the food not being to our liking it was good that they offer a take away breakfast if you are checking out before 8am. The rooms were the saving grace of our stay. They have been recently refurbished and were some of the nicer we have stayed in. There is a large ceiling fan and although there is AC this didn't seem to work. The safe is free to use and the TV has a range of channels including some UK based. There is good storage and a nice large bathroom with walk in shower. There was a balcony with outside table and chairs. The one let down in the room was is that the fridge is more of a cooler than a traditional fridge so nothing came out of it properly cold. We ended up buying ice from the super market every day to keep drinks cold. There is a kettle in the room although they don't replenish often however we bought our own milk and tea bags. Rooms were cleaned everyday although we found every 2-3 days ample so used our do not disturb. The beds were comfortable. The noise of doors closing was quite loud at times but rarely did we notice any other noises even on the nights we had the room open all night. Overall it's a nice hotel but not amazing. I maybe had gone with higher expectations due to the reviews I had read which might have left me more disappointed that if I had just turned up.
