“Had a day pass and it was a fab day!”

We had a day pass for this hotel as we were staying at Magic villa del mar. We booked in and played mini golf, had lunch and then spent the afternoon at the pool. Huge pool with plenty of space to swim for older kids/adults and young ones. Great vibe, music playing and lots of fun had on the slides… more

We had a day pass for this hotel as we were staying at Magic villa del mar. We booked in and played mini golf, had lunch and then spent the afternoon at the pool. Huge pool with plenty of space to swim for older kids/adults and young ones. Great vibe, music playing and lots of fun had on the slides. Plenty of sunbeds and we didn’t get to the pool until gone to 1pm. The facilities look great especially for families with young children.

As per the title quote mixed feelings on this place, start with the positives POSITIVES: - Loads to do for kids with water slides and various facilities on site - Food not as bad as some reviews suggest, it’s typical all inclusive buffet food, some nights was really good - Entertainment in general was good, they did a pirates shows on the Friday night which was brilliant. Live acts every night and choice of two places was nice - Lots of sunbeds available by pool, no sunbed wars to speak off NEGATIVES: - We stayed in a Sherwood lodge and to say it’s small is an understatement, smaller than the caravan holidays in UK. No room to move anywhere. Frustratingly, we got a text 4 weeks before our holiday from Jet2 stating they hadn’t finished a number of lodges and we may see/hear building work during our stay. We were offered to change holidays if we wanted (however everything was a lot more expensive now than when we booked so that wasn’t an option). What we weren’t aware off is we got put on the very end row, right next to where the builders start work and was woken at 8.30 every morning when they clocked in. Tried explaining this to a receptionist but she couldn’t really understand the point I was making. - Taxis, all I’m gonna say is you can’t get off the resort. Bolt taxis don’t wanna come up here and you have to wait in a queue outside reception for the taxis, we gave up after an hour of waiting, so if your gonna book trips off the resort, be prepared in advance it’s hard to get taxis. I raised this with the jet2 lady on resort and she was oblivious to why taxis were taking so long. Final point, not sure if this is good or bad, lifeguards are very on the ball but also very strict, can’t take inflatables in majority of pools, which seems a bit odd.

I had high hopes of Magic Robin Hood after opting for the New Sherwood Lodge Premium with Jacuzzi and Ultra All-Inclusive Option. My family of 5 stayed here during May half term for 3 nights, but really felt disappointed with the overall service received. Firstly, the lodge is on the snug side, and I would say family of 5 is probably max. Theoretically with the sofa bed you could fit 7 but would strongly advise against this. The biggest problem with this resort is lack of clear leadership with staff just working their allocated areas. E.g. reception, cleaners, lifeguards, etc. Unable to apply any initiate and just following company policy. Some staff appear indifferent and speak no English let alone know anything about customer service. Paying for Ultra All-Inclusive I was expecting just that, but unfortunately the small print is that you still must pay extra for the Medieval Dinner Show (as staying for less than 3 days) and some other chargeable activities. Also note that dinner show and some activities are not on every day, meaning by the time you figure the place out on the second day, it may be too late. In fact, the only thing Ultra all inclusive gave us was separate VIP queue for drinks at the bar and special seating area at the restaurant. The restaurants were unfortunately very bad with poor food taste and quality. The special themed restaurants are open on certain days and must be booked in advance. We missed the Premium buffet restaurant as again only open on certain days. You can get pizza delivered to your room, but only if ordered before 5pm. So not much point if your hungry after that time. But again, the pizza quality was so poor and delivered cold. I could go on in details, but I will summarise remaining bad points below in no particular order: • Rooms weren’t cleaned or towels replaced on the second day. • Waited over an hour for clean towels to be delivered before we were able to get ready for dinner. • Low water pressure in the shower, particularly around the afternoon, as I suspect everyone else showering. • Shower knob was broken before being fixed on the second day when engineer understood the exact fault. • No luggage cart before 8am, so you must take your own luggage to reception for early checkout. • Breakfast starts at 8am, which I think is quite late. But handy for the hotel, as people checkout early on empty stomach! • The app is actually a webpage and no real urgency in replies received. This is frustrating as there are no phones in the lodge and unless you ring reception on your mobile, this is the main way to communicate and book activities. • You need to give €1 deposit for drinking cups by the poolside or snack areas. Very weird. I can understand this for towel deposits, but not seen this before. Also deposits are at reception, so you must walk all the way back there to get your tokens. • I found the reception staff inept at dealing with any issues. Another big frustration I found was with lifeguards. Apparently, you can’t wear a life jacket whilst going down the slides. They were telling my 6-year-old to remove it before you go down. No common sense on all fronts. My child was wearing a small thin life jacket (piece of mind for me) which he has worn all over the world at big water parks. However here, they want the child to remove it and then risk drowning at the bottom. The security guard who spoke English tried his best to explain my frustrations to the main lifeguard in charge, but as mentioned no leadership skills or ability to use common sense applies here. Some positives like entertainment team work hard to put on a decent show and probably strong Wifi. In conclusion no ultra-premium experience, bad food, confusing rules around activities and restaurants, and would not recommend staying here more than a few days. Maybe easyJet holidays, Jet2holidays and other tour operators should give this resort a major review. I spent close to £1,600 for 3 nights during May half term just to provide some financial context.
