The hotel in general was very good, i think that the place that it's situated is excellent, is near the sea and no far away from the center of peñíscola. The only bad thing is that in the nights the people meet with the friends and the hotel is in the middle of the zone of restaurants and there's a lot of noise. The rooms are very good, it is no big but it's comfortable to stay one week. The bathroom it's very clean and the services of the hotel i think that was the worst part, but in general is a good hotel.

“Great location to the beach.”

The hotel is nothing special, but it is in a perfect location right across the street from the beach. The hotel does offer a free breakfast which is a plus. The staff are very helpful and polite. The only minus is that it could have been a little cleaner.

We were lucky enough to pop into this hotel at the very end of the strip before the hill to the old town. Yes, Vincenta had a room on the 4th floor with a balcony and view of the Mediterranean and the whole Playa Norte. There is an elevator but it was much more fun taking the beautiful circular staircase up to the room - with the light from the amazing stained glass ceiling lighting the way. They have thought of everything that you might need in the room including a line and clothespins on the balcony. Very useful indeed. A standard Spanish breakfast was included. From the front steps, we could walk across the road, down some steps and we were on the beach where we could swim beside the old castle walls. It was very secluded being right at the end of the beach. To our immediate right, we had access to the old town which included the Castle, church, Birds of Prey exhibition, shops and restaurants. Through a staircase from the parking lot to the right of the hotel, we could access the Playa Sur, another beautiful beach. Wifi was not available but there are several hotspots in the town. Parking was free. There was no English spoken by Vincenta or the staff so have your dictionary handy.

Booked Cabo de Mar purely on the basis of its price and the great location immediately adjacent to the Castello de Peniscola. On these two counts it did not dissappoint. It also did not disappoint on cleanliness and quality of fixtures and fittings. The room itself was small and a requested cot for our 6-month old was not provided. Cabo management said I had not confirmed the request when they told me how much it would cost - they didn't tell me I needed to. They then said that they didn't provide cots anyway because they had all been broken by previous guests... the child slept in with us on the first night on the seemingly narrower than normal bed and it was up to Eroski in the Centro de Comercial about 4 miles away the next day to buy a travel cot with some urgency. The balcony looked out onto the side/rear of the building to an adjacent apartment building with sight of a square with trees and some bars. It too was very small but at least we had one. They couldn’t move us to the front of the building which would have been a lot more pleasant. There were no mozzie screens on the windows and anyone like us who prefers open windows to the (v.effective) air conditioning will need some form of repellent - mozzies were a Peniscola problem. The bathroom and its unexpectedly powerful shower was the best aspect of the room. The fact that a waterproof mattress protector had been fitted to the bed, rendering it rubbery and clammy in the heat was the worst - that was swiftly removed and left in the wardrobe. This left us wondering as the other guests did all seem to be quite elderly... Breakfast was identical every day and basic, served for one hour only between 9-10am. We were told dinner has to be pre-booked, but with restaurants everywhere there wasn’t much point. There is no bar, so bring your own and a corkscrew for the room. Staff could blow hot and cold, one time pleasant, the next time a bit pushed for time and almost brusque. They always provided piping hot water for the child’s cereal with a smile and the cleaning staff were very nice and accommodated a few sleepins. Main issue was the noise in the street below at night. Revellers coming back from the nightclub up in the castello were very noisy in the early and later hours of the morning and woke us and the baby on a regular basis. The open windows didn't help but these young fellas were very loud and I watched one night as one tried to smash a window in the bar below - fortunately he failed but I'm sure he woke the whole street with his efforts. This was unusual behaviour in this very family-orientated resort. They have no car parking, but it only cost about €4 per day to park in the square just adjacent to the Castello entrance and there always seemed to be spaces. Peniscola is a fantastic family resort, and on that basis we would go back, but we would go for an apartment rather than such a small room. When I say I would recommend this hotel, I would do for the location and bearing in mind the noise at night, the possiblity of a small room and that it's not particularly luxurious.
