This is a small boutique adult only hotel located right on the beach. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable and the gardens are an absolute delight. The breakfast buffet and the table served optional, but inclusive choices are excellent. We had dinner at the hotel every night for 13 nights because the menu is extensive and good value, and in combination with the glorious sea view we felt there was no need to go elsewhere. That said, there are innumerable restaurant options within a short taxi ride of the hotel if you are so inclined. We would like to make a special mention about all the LPBRS staff who very hour of every day provide unstinting excellent service; absolutely nothing is ever too much trouble. Additionally, we would like to make a special call out of Nee who as far as we can see never stops working wherever and whenever the need arises. We would like to make a couple of constructive suggestions to the hotel management: 1. Given the hotel does make it's own bread, we wondered if it might be possible to also make some rolls for breakfast. 2. Glasses are used for all drinks around the pool. Would it not be better to use non breakable repticals in this area and on the beach? Beyond that a return next year is already booked which, at the risk of repeating myself, just about sums it up.

We loved our stay at this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate in returning when we are next in Krabi. The rooms are large, clean and beds very comfortable. We had a sea view room which was about 3rd row back and felt nice and private and very quiet in the evenings. The hotel and island are about slowing down and relaxing and for us this is exactly what we got. No need to rush in the mornings, enjoyed leisurely breakfasts and then still able to find sunbeds after this around 10.30. As always there are a few people who feel it necessary to reserve beds but in general the hotel doesn’t have an issue with this and we never had any problems finding beds. All the staff we encountered were fantastic, so friendly and helpful and loved how the cleaners ways managed to have our room cleaned by the time we returned from breakfast! Food and drinks were great and I felt the breakfast was particularly good compared to many hotels we’ve stayed in Thailand, especially the included option to order speciality coffees! Thank you also for allowing us a complimentary breakfast on our day of check in as we arrived super early! This was very much appreciated! There are limited options to walk to in the immediate area however, easy and cheap to get taxis on the main road to anywhere on the island so this isn’t an issue if you want to explore in the evenings for dinner elsewhere. Transfers can be arranged from the airport with the hotel, which made arrival very smooth. Thank you everyone at Lanta Palace, we had a wonderful stay.

The recipe First find a lovely, white sand bay nestled between two rocky headlands on a tropical island. Then take traditional Thai style bungalows, carefully design the interiors, fill them with quality furniture and fittings, finish them to the highest standard and place them in a beautiful garden in such a way that each has as much privacy as possible. Add a large pool and create an attractive dining area and bar right on the beach with interesting decor. Then take the natural charm, warmth and sense of fun of the Thai people and fine tune a customer focus among the staff. Then create a varied menu with tasty, fresh ingredients and a skilled chef. Then with the basics in place, focus on all the fine details such as the number of sun beds and umbrellas, the size of the beach towels, a supply of free chilled water, fresh fruit for those lazing in the sun……and keep focusing…….Add to all this reasonable prices for food and drink. Oh and then make it adults only ( sorry to sound selfish). And then add a sprinkling of a magic ingredient…….the enthusiasm and love of the owners. And there you have it! A wonderful hotel on a Thai island.

The Lanta Palace, an adults only resort, is a good choice if you are looking for a value-oriented, peaceful beach vacation. The beautifully landscaped grounds are small, so it’s easy to get from your individual cabin to the beach, breakfast, pool. The cabins are simple and clean with great air con. Breakfast is good, with plentiful fresh fruit and made-to-order choices. I loved the fresh made smoothies with your choice of fruit. We had dinner here twice. Not sure what others complained about - our food was very good (Pad Thai and duck breast). While there were plenty of sunbeds, finding shade was a challenge. Not sure how to solve that other than having more umbrellas on the beach.
