We recently stayed at the Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa, and it was an absolutely phenomenal experience from start to finish. If you are looking for a resort that perfectly balances tropical tranquility with luxury, this is it. Located quite centrally and you are 8 minutes from pristine Lamai beach and 20 minutes from Chaweng beach. Pre arrival communication regarding airport pick up and resort facilities was perfect. On landing at the beautiful Koh Samui airport, you will find a business counter for Marriott group just outside the luggage belt hall where they meet and greet you. Tip: The airport pickup in their Limousine Van is a perfect start to the vacation with Marriott WiFi, distilled water, cold towels provided for and a peaceful ride to the resort. Do opt for it. On reaching the resort, the checkin was quick and comfortable. We were recognised for our Marriott Elite status and the hotel upgraded us to a 1 Bedroom Villa with Private Pool and Whirlpool. That was truly delightful! Thank you. This recognises of loyalty is what sets Marriott apart from other hotels. The resort layout is stunning, nestled into a lush hillside that opens up to a serene, quiet private beach area. (which is small and water is shallow and surrounded by multiple large and small stones but is quite picturesque). The beachfront area is magical, especially in the evenings. They have a beautiful swing right on the shore under a massive tree adorned with woven lantern lights and string bulbs—perfect for relaxing with a view of the gulf. The main infinity pool is pristine, lined with comfortable loungers and classic blue-and-white striped umbrellas. We had a few evening drinks at the pool bar while watching the golden sunset hour. We spent a lot of time enjoying our private pool villa. It offers total privacy, surrounded by beautiful terracotta walls and lush greenery. Lounging in the private plunge pool under the umbrella was a daily highlight. Room service was prompt and food was tasty. The culinary experience here deserves a special mention. The authentic Thai Green Curry we had was rich, perfectly spiced, and easily some of the best we’ve tasted. If you need a break from local flavors, their fish and chips hit the spot—perfectly crispy batter, fresh fish, and great presentation. As for the buffer breakfast, the service of the hotel staff was excellent. Starting the day with fresh tea served in beautiful ceramic pots looking out over the tiled roofs and palm trees toward the ocean was incredibly peaceful. Tea/Coffee/Eggs/Waffles: All were good and were served with love by the ever smiling and wonderful staff. The buffet also offers “Smirnoff Vodka” shots. All the hotel staff that we came across were lovely, enthusiastic and energetic. Special mention of Cake and Pizza who were so kind and helpful at the reception area. I am missing to recall the name of the gentleman who helped us with check-in and warmly explained hotel facilities. He was very warm and welcoming. What truly sets this old Renaissance property apart is the warmth of the staff. Every interaction felt genuine, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The resort has a calm, upscale, yet completely unpretentious vibe. Whether you are lounging in your room with a morning coffee looking out at the gardens, or watching the dusk settle over the ocean by the main pool, this place feels like a true sanctuary. We cannot wait to return!

“A wonderful family holiday on Lamai Beach with a toddler”

We chose Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa for 3 nights of our Thailand family holiday, and the timing happened to coincide with my wife's birthday. Travelling with a two-year-old is always a logistical puzzle, and from the very first email exchange weeks before arrival, this team turned every potential stress point into a non-issue. Pre-arrival communication was genuinely the best I have experienced at any hotel. Hana from the resort's Delighted to Serve team patiently went back and forth with us over multiple emails, helping with everything from the airport transfer (THB 1,000 per way, baby seat included for our toddler) to setting up a bottle steriliser in the room, kettle access, additional hot water for formula, and thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and local sightseeing on the island. Sandy was also part of the pre-arrival team and helped coordinate the arrangements. By the time we landed at Samui Airport, the resort representative was waiting for us right at the Marriott Bonvoy counter near baggage claim, just as Hana had described. The transfer was smooth and the baby seat was already fitted in the car. The birthday celebration setup on Ishita's birthday was beautifully done. The room decoration and complimentary cake the team prepared was a real surprise and made the evening genuinely special. Check-in was handled by Alice, whose warmth set the tone for the rest of the stay. The Lamai Beach location is gorgeous, and the resort itself feels like a thoughtful blend of relaxed island energy and proper Marriott service quality. A few practical notes for other families: the airport transfer is well worth the spend, baby seats are available on request, bottle sterilisation can be arranged in-room, and the team is excellent at recommending kid-friendly restaurants on the island. “Comfortable stay”

Bess and Maiya were very helpful and gave us excellent service. The villa was very comfortable.
