We had a truly wonderful stay at Cape Kudu — the setting is absolutely stunning, the rooms are beautiful, and the whole atmosphere feels calm, stylish, and effortlessly relaxing. The staff were exceptional throughout — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made a big difference to our experience. Everything was spot on… except the food at the hotel. While it was nicely presented, it just didn’t quite match the high standard set by everything else. With such an incredible location and overall experience, improving the food would take this place from great to outstanding. We would absolutely return and still highly recommend Cape Kudu — just hoping the dining experience steps up to match the rest of this special hotel.

“Not a 5* or a boutique hotel. Avoid in peak season and consider carefully what you’d like from your visit”

Given the pictures and how this hotel is advertised we had high hopes for what appeared to be a 5* boutique hotel. Our stay was satisfactory and hotel staff were kind and generally quite attentive but the hotel is definitely not in the 5* category due to the hotel venue and design itself and handling of guests. Specifically 1) the hotel has 50+ rooms and small communal spaces which felt very busy and like being in a big airport hotel. It is not a boutique hotel and i was surprised it had the SLH endorsement 2) the rooms are ok (and well cleaned/maintained by good housekeeping staff) but quite basic, more of a good 3 or 4* level and 3) the service/guest handling does have some improvement. We were wrongly told our inward flight had been cancelled but managed to sort the situation out ourselves, and having complained about the hotel busyness mid stay were offered no compensation (as would likely happen in a quality 5* hotel). The restaurants outside of the hotel on the beach were great and made our trip. The hotel is frequented by a real mix of travellers - many of whom am sure this hotel would be ideal for. But for guests who travel a lot and know what to expect from an expensive, well run boutique hotel, I am afraid this hotel isn’t what we had hoped. The wine night was a nice touch however, but again felt very busy in what is a small space. Book with caution and read reviews thoroughly. As frequent travelers staying in similar hotel categories, we booked this hotel without hesitation given the positive reviews and the establishment’s website. We had reserved a higher-category accommodation: a mini villa with a private pool. The unit assigned to us was located right next to the main pool and behind the kitchens. As a result, we experienced two evenings of live music, constant kitchen odors while trying to relax in our pool, and noise from kitchen operations, among other disturbances. The day after our arrival, we reported our dissatisfaction to the reception, and again the following day (ahead of our third night). Management was responsive and offered us a room change to a more secluded and much quieter location, which we greatly appreciated. However, management was already aware of this issue, as it had previously been reported to the owners. It is therefore disappointing that, when booking a 5-star hotel, one ends up in such a situation. The rooms are tastefully decorated and relatively clean, although more attention could be paid to details (accumulation of insects in corners behind curtains, shower seals needing replacement, etc.). The bedding is comfortable, as is the seating area. The breakfast area (as well as the restaurant area) is pleasant, with several tables offering sea views. The common areas are aesthetically pleasing but very limited in size compared to the number of rooms. Clearly, there is not enough space for everyone. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but we would not return.
