Had a 2 week stay here in February, everything about this hotel is fantastic. Location is great, nice and quiet, over the road from the beach and a short walk to the centre if you need something bit livelier. The pool area is beautiful, plenty of sun loungers, we had a swim up room which we loved. Everywhere in the hotel and the grounds are spotless, the gardens are kept beautiful. The staff are so attentive, a quick shout out to Bowling, Honey, Tuffy, Kwan and Cha Cha (sorry can’t remember everyone’s names) they looked after us so well, nothing was too much trouble. The food and cocktails again were fantastic, I really can’t find anything negative to say, we had an amazing time made extra special by the staff. We would definitely return here.

It was a repeat visit staying in a Pool Access room, this time for 3 weeks. We LOVE it here and already booked for next year. This hotel can’t be beaten for location & what it offers for the price. It’s relatively small, rustic and real - that’s what gives it charm and unique personality. Wonderful owners and genuinely kind & professional staff, Mr K & Khun Mai should be very proud. Wonderful place, wonderful people, our second visit to the Khao Lak Oriental resort and once again it didn’t disappoint. We are already planning our return next year. The staff treated us more like friends, so kind and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Every time we entered, or left, the reception girls gave a very warm greeting, Bee , Opal and Miew especially were extremely helpful. We stayed in one of the swim up pool rooms , traditional Thai style , a very comfortable bed and all the amenities needed and what a luxury being able to go straight into the beautiful pool, swim up to the bar to be served by the amazing Bowling , Mia , Cha Cha and Tuffy . Sorry I don’t remember more names as they were all so efficient, smiling , remembering our names, room number and importantly our order every day. My husband loved the cookery class , second time of taking, Mr Egg (nicknamed by Chai one of the very proficient manger’s ) the chef , making delicious Thai specialties . I visited the relaxing Spa, greeted by Jenny , to have the most wonderful massage and facial. The hotel is only a very short walk from the beach and from bars and restaurants. We would definitely recommend staying at the resort and are looking forward to our next visit .

This is a nice, peaceful hotel to stay at whilst in Khao Lak. I really liked the traditional decor and style of the hotel. Our room was a good size and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. There are definitely some improvements that could be made in the room, however: The bed was rock hard and the two pillows provided were also not sufficient - one was also rock hard and the other too flat. I didn’t sleep well the entire week we were here, as I was so uncomfortable, and tossed and turned all night. The outside light shines through the bathroom window and into the bedroom, which cannot be blocked out due to a frosted glass panel from the bathroom into the bedroom and the door also containing frosted glass. As someone who likes to sleep in pitch black, this also bothered me. Lots of tables in our room (seven in total) but none with any drawers. The only storage was a small wardrobe with one drawer inside. The safe was located on the bottom shelf of the TV cabinet. You had to kneel/stoop down to reach it. Not great if you have mobility issues. Also very dark and hard to see inside! The shower pressure wasn’t great, but manageable. We considered a swim up room, which would have been an extra £250 for the week. However, upon inspecting them, they are all pretty much in the shade all day and only have deckchairs to sit on, rather than sun loungers (as the outside space isn’t big). It’s also direct access into the main, shared pool, and not a smaller swim up pool, so we decided not to bother and were glad we didn’t, as the week went on. The main pool is quiet with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas to go around (we were in the adult’s only wing). My only issue with the pool was the amount of flies. They are everywhere and will not leave you alone, flying in your face all of the time. Swatting them away constantly got very tiresome. There are also lots of mosquitoes. The maids must leave the doors to the rooms open when cleaning as our room was constantly filled with them and we got bit every evening, despite wearing repellent and being careful to keep the doors closed. Breakfast was pretty good. Bizarrely, more dinner options, such as curry, rice, fried meat etc being served than breakfast options, but it was fine. The location of the hotel is good; across the road from the beach and a ten minute walk to the main road where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Housekeeping was good and all staff were friendly and polite. I wouldn’t stay again, just because of the flies and how uncomfortable the bed was.
