Had the most perfect stay at Laguna Villa boutique hotel on the lovely island of Yao Nai. From start to finish could not have been better. Nancy, the hotel manager made all the arrangements for our transport from Phuket which all went very smoothly. The hotel is very well situated near to bars and restaurants. The room was perfect, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Lots of space with a great outdoor shower room and very comfortable bed. The lounge/kitchen area was well furnished. We had a super breakfast every morning. All the staff are so helpful and always happy to help. We could not recommend Laguna Villas highly enough and will hope to return very soon.

We stayed at the Laguna Villas Boutique Hotel on Koh Yao Noi Island for 5-nights in early-Feb (B7,200; $238 Can/night). The hotel is an oasis of tranquility located on a long, sandy bay divided by rocky headlands. Its location is ideal, nestled among a cluster of a half dozen restaurants, beach massage places, and shops. The only exception is markets that sell alcohol (the island is more than 90% Muslim); you need to take a taxi (B100 pp each way) to the 7/11 in town, or to Bubbles, a couple of kilometers to the left along the road (and they also deliver). The hotel's 9 villas are arrayed in landscaped tropical grounds around a large, well maintained pool that we often had entirely to ourselves. All have pool views and at least a partial view across the road to the beach and the karst islands beyond. The location was perfect for travellers like us, looking for bucolic island where all of the conveniences were nearby, where all there was to do was walk on the beach or sit at the pool, where we enjoyed an immaculately maintained, beautiful and stylish ambience. Our deluxe sea-facing villa had two large rooms (each with its own AC), one a sitting area with couch and chairs, a small table and chairs, and a vanity with sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and enough cutlery, glasses and flatware for two. The bedroom had a comfortable king bed, large clothes cabinet, long bench with a desk, and a TV. To the side was the bathroom with an outdoor shower set amid the tropical vegetation. Breakfast was excellent, ordered from a menu the day before and served on the beach or at the hotel. They offered rentals (scooters, bicycles, motorcycles with side cars) and long-tailed boat excursions at competitive prices. They also will arrange transport to and from the island, but at prices that are higher on the internet. There was a small convenience store with a limited selection nearby. Dinner at the hotel was similar to the adjacent restaurants – all were good, and all were similarly priced. The staff were excellent, always helpful, smiling, and provided fast, thorough room cleaning. A quick note on rooms; we paid a bit extra for the sea-facing villa, something that is not necessary because the views of the islands are across a hedge, the street (its the circum-island road, but there is hardly any traffic), and the beach buildings, so you get almost the same view from the other villas. Overall, the Laguna Villas is an excellent small, boutique hotel perfect for a relaxing, peaceful stay. Recommended.

We stayed here for four nights for a little R&R after our trek in Bhutan. It was a perfect balance of luxury, relaxation, and price. Our host was wonderful and very helpful in planning excursions. Individual suites surround a well maintained pool. Our villa faced the ocean. Rooms are tastefully decorated . Small kitchen. Outdoor shower. Thai dishes at their restaurant were excellent.
