The Orchid Resortel is surprisingly good. We were not expecting too much but were very happy with our stay. Located about halfway down Soi Sansabai it sits just above a 7/11 which is very handy and next door to a very good massage establishment. Only a two-minute walk to the infamous Bangla Road. There are a numerous places to eat in the area, along with a number of bars and massage salons. For lunch or dinner we can recommend La Lantern diagonally across the road to your left, the food there is first rate at reasonable prices. For breakfast we can recommend Summer Breeze Hotel diagonally across the road to your right. The food at the Orchid restaurant can be hit and miss. We enjoyed a great stir fry chicken noodle there but, on another occasion, had omelette and fries, skinniest omelette we had ever seen and a handful of fries, would not have satisfied a five-year-old! Anyway, back to the hotel. We stayed in a superior room on the corner of the third floor. The back window (with a very small balcony – only fits one person) looks onto the Gig Hotel. The window on the other side looks onto Soi Sansabai. The room itself is quite modern, clean, fresh and bright. Tea and coffee making facilities available, room safe, wall mounted TV and good WIFI in the room. The bed was very comfortable making for a good night’s sleep. There is a pool on the rooftop but it is more a splash pool, gets crowded when there are more than three people! Must make special mention of the wonderful staff in the hotel and restaurant downstairs. All very helpful and very friendly. All in all, an enjoyable stay and can highly recommend.

Pros: Close to everything. Cons: Very small pool. Location: Close to bars at one end, close to food market at the other. Stayed Feb-2019 for 1 day without breakfast in standard room 337. The room is in a block of rooms in the centre of the floor so had no windows. There was a light-selection option which bathed the room in a green-colour light. After a quick sleep I changed the light to normal colour. I returned in Feb-2020 for 3 nights without breakfast in superior room 337 which had windows. The superior room has a large fridge, the standard room an under-the-table fridge. A welcome drink is given on arrival at reception. The roof top pool is very very small. More of a splash around pool. Whilst I was out shopping at 20:00pm, reception refused to let a relative accompany my partner into the room saying the room was registered for 2 people only. My partner and relative then waited in the lounge until I returned. The first time I stayed I stored my luggage when changing hotels.
