Beautiful property with extremely friendly and helpful staff! The location is beautiful, and 5 minute walk down the beach is Jolly Hall beach which is even more beautiful. The restaurant on site makes great drinks and decent food, although please be aware of island time. If you want a different experience, walk 3 mins down the road to Augusta Bay Restaurant. The property has a pool, ample beach and pool seating, and has kayaks and paddle boards that you can use. Another tip is to bring a good amount of cash as there is only 1 ATM in Georgetown and some restaurants, most taxis (including boat taxis) only take cash. Definitely take the shuttle into town and visit the shops and restaurants there. I also highly recommend you utilize the grocery delivery from Exuma Market as there is nowhere to get snacks on site. They will deliver to your room before you arrive. Lastly, wear 50 sunscreen, the sun in the Bahamas is strong!

“Comfortable Stay”

Great location. Bed was comfortable. Loved that they have a microwave and refrigerator and dishes in the room. Be sure to ask for a hair dryer if you want one. great beach nearby and restaurant food was very good

“An actual vacation community”

We stayed 4 nights at Hideaways in Exuma and absolutely loved it. We were in an ocean-side, garden cottage, which was more like a small house. It really became our home-away-from home. The cottages are arranged like a small village, with magical lighted pathways between them. Each has their own front porch, where many guests choose to hang out and chill, some even barbecuing! The cottage is full appointed, and has a coffee maker with coffee supplied. The on-site restaurant had tons of options and was absolutely hopping the first night we went--although it took an hour to get our food, it was tasty when we got it. We also went for breakfast the next morning and enjoyed it. Hideaways has it's own small, private beach, with various water activities like paddleboards and kayaks. We didn't partake although we did sit out on their lounge chairs. It's also a very short walk to the stunning Jolly Hall beach, which is where we went for our proper beach day. Hideaways is also a short walk to the Fish Fry, with a variety of restaurants, and neighbouring hotels with dining options as well. There is also a free shuttle into George Town, where we bought some groceries to have in our cottage. What makes Hideaways so special is the community vibe--it really feels like you are staying with family. The people are amazing and the fellow guests all have that relaxed "we have a secret" vibe. And the secret is how amazing Hideaways is.

We stayed at Hideaways for spring break with two teens and mother in law. We loved the location of the resort, equidistant between the stunning beaches of Exuma Point and Tropic of Cancer, right next to Jolly Hall, and minutes to Georgetown and the water taxi. We had a two bedroom partial ocean view bungalow, which was large, updated, well appointed, and had a nice porch to enjoy coffee in the AM. Mother in law had a one bedroom ocean front (#14) on the other side of the pool, where I would love to stay next time if we come just as a couple. The beach itself is pretty, though the winds and rough seas when we were there washed up a huge amount of trash. So much plastic! The pool was small, but adequate and well maintained. As others have noted, the lobby is a bit dated, but we did not spend time there except for a game of ping pong here and there. The restaurant was nice to have on property, though service was on serious island time, and the food was good. We had a system where the adults would go and get a seat for breakfast, order for the kids, and then text them 45 minutes later when the food was set to arrive. They also liked playing pool when waiting for dinner. I saw other families bringing in cards and games to pass the time, everyone seemed to adapt to the universal island time. Of note at Hideaways is the warmth and helpfulness of the staff. We were greeted warmly by Tevin, who was helpful throughout our stay. The water in the showers was tepid at best, and he had the problem fixed in hours after I spoke to him. The shuttle to Georgetown is nice to have given limited parking in town, though I would strongly recommend renting a 4 wheel drive car to see all the amazing beaches on the island. If we come again, I would stay in one of the ocean front rooms, some of which belong to Hideaways and some are privately owned and rented.
