Our family (my wife, our two boys, and I) recently stayed at **Arenal Springs Resort & Spa**, and it exceeded every expectation. This was easily one of the best resort experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and outstanding hospitality. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, approachable, and eager to help. What impressed us most was how incredibly **prompt and attentive** the service was. Whether we had a question, requested assistance, or needed transportation around the resort, everything was handled quickly and with a smile. The level of customer service was truly exceptional. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with an amazing view of **Arenal Volcano**. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the natural hot springs were the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring La Fortuna. The amenities were excellent—from the pools and hot springs to the restaurants and overall atmosphere. The resort strikes the perfect balance between luxury, comfort, and a peaceful connection with nature. We especially appreciated how family-friendly everything was while still feeling like a high-end resort. The concierge team also did a fantastic job helping with activities and recommendations, making our stay completely stress-free. “Wonderful hot springs, fantastic service”

We had a great time at Arenal Springs. The best part is of course the pool and hot springs. The only hotel I have stayed at that actually makes the swim up pool bar work. We even had lunch there. We had a great time at Arenal Springs. The best part is of course the pool and hot springs. The only hotel I have stayed at that actually makes the swim up pool bar work. We even had lunch there. I think it works because it’s warm, and not too deep. Really fun for he family. They have an adult section too. Restaurant was good, staff were all very friendly. Room itself was nice but a little small for five of us; we made it work. Nice to have hammock and outside seating and the weather was not too hot at all.

“Luxury hotel, great surroundings, but falls slightly short in the details”

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel in July 2026. On check in, they had upgraded us to a junior superior suite, and as it was a milestone birthday celebration, there was a bottle of wine waiting in the room. The room was large enough for 2 queensize beds and could easily accommodate 4 of us. Each morning, housekeeping would create these gorgeous animals from the towels/blankets. They elicited lots of praise from my teenagers!! The bathroom was a really good size. We were really excited about the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. HOWEVER. At first it wouldn't fill, and the water was lukewarm. Maintenance came quite swiftly and confirmed that the water temperature would not get any hotter. Sadly, we made zero use of the jacuzzi. The sink taps were crusted with limescale which meant you just got sprays of water. Maintenance scraped the taps which marginally improved the water flow. The facilities at the hotel are great. We made use of the gym and the hot water springs. We were impressed that there were 3 hot springs, a cold freshwater pool, and a small-ish swimming pool. As many people are out most days , the pools didn't feel crowded - even on days where it really rained hard. The hot pools are frequented by iguanas, small green lizards and birds as you bathe. That felt pretty special! We are a family of vegetarians and we were accommodated at lunches/dinners (we were able to order from any of the menus at any of the food places). They made us a cheese less pizza, for example, to accommodate my teenage. The staff are plentiful and v eager to assist. You can request golf buggys to get around the hotel grounds as it is huge! Arenal volcano was covered by cloud, but we were lucky one afternoon to snap some photos of it clearly. Breakfast was a highlight for us. Plenty of Costa Rican delicacies prepared fresh, fruits, cheeses, meats, cereals and omelette stations. There's also a smoothie bar where we selected different fruits daily to whiz up. Some things at breakfast could be markedly improved however: 1. Bread / pastries are not covered at all. There were SO MANY flies landing on the breads and croissants. Either placing these items under netted covers, or in a sliding door cabinet would help reduce potential illnesses. 2. The honey jar and honey scoop were COVERED in flies. One morning I saw about 5 dead flies in the honey. Its clear the hotel had tried to resolve this, as the next morning, the honey jar lid was closed, and the wooden spoon placed in a bowl of water...but you guessed it, the flies were still over the jar and dead in the water. 3. Every morning , there were about 30 or so fried eggs lined up and waiting to go on the warming plate. They were rock hard and completely set and totally unappetising. Perhaps cooking to order would help reduce food waste....? 4. I'm not sure if its just in Costa Rica, but any extra ingredients in omelette just aren't cooked. My husband requested an onion, pepper and cheese omelette, and none of this was cooked. So he got raw ingredients in cooked egg. All in all, a pretty fancy place to stay if you're in Arenal.

Overall a good experience. Rooms were updated and pools great. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Lunch and dinner expensive and good but much better options in La Fortuna. At checkout, I had a poor experience. On day of checkout, I went to reception and told the person I was leaving and he then directed me to another person near him. That person printed out the invoice of charges and I said that was fine and I took the invoice with me. Since they had my deposit and credit card, I assumed that was normal procedure as it is in the U.S. He never said anything to me and I left to my room to finish packing. 45min later, we are running late to our next activity and we get stopped at the gate and told to turn around. No explanation. I backed up 100’ and walked into reception. The person I spoke to 45min before said I didn’t pay the incidental charges. Huh? I told him you knew I was checking out and I confirmed the incidental charges. Somehow he claimed he didn’t know I was checking out. Puzzling since they even stopped me at the gate. It made no sense and perhaps a language issue. Anyway, the issue was resolved but it left a bad impression on otherwise a decent stay.
