Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Iliade. We stayed for 4 nights in May and chose the destination and hotel based on positive reviews and online research - it seemed like the perfect choice for us to have a chilled, peaceful and relaxing stay. There is not much to see or do in the immediate area around the hotel, so if you are looking for a relaxing stay without leaving the hotel, this can be the place for you. We had a lovely room on the ground floor which had its own chairs, table and grassy area on the terrace. Our room was really quiet and had everything we needed for our stay- including a fridge which kept our water super chilled which was important given the fantastic heat we had in May! Bathroom was lovely, spacious and beautifully decorated and our bed was comfy too (although would have preferred a double rather than two singles pushed together). We would have preferred a pair of light curtains underneath the heavy curtains to allow us to have the curtains open and still allow natural light. When getting ready in an evening for example we either had to have curtains fully closed or fully open which would have meant no privacy. The restaurant was clean and a good size to cater for so many guests, with lots of available space. The food was outstanding, varied and of high quality at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highlight for us at breakfast were freshly cooked omelettes, and freshly cooked bambalouni- highly recommend both of these! Lunch we enjoyed in the Al fresco restaurant with a beautiful sea view. Staff here were friendly and attentive. Evening meals were fantastic too- and we have to give a special shoutout to our waiter who we sat with - Abdesslam 😊 The staff really make or break a hotel, and Abdesslam went out of his way to make us feel special and welcomed each evening- so friendly and a real credit to the hotel- thank you so much! Please can the management team pass on our positive review to him? The bar and selection of drinks was good, and a really nice touch was unique flavours of ice cream available in the afternoon. The pool looked great, and very impressive, although we didn’t use it due to how close the beach was to the hotel. Literally a matter of seconds away was the hotel’s private section of the beach. Stunning white sands and quite simply the best sea we have ever swam in- warm, crystal clear and true ‘tropical island’ vibes! There was also a beach bar meaning we had drinks available on tap all day. The territory of the hotel was lovely and picturesque, and for such a busy place, it felt calm and peaceful. The hotel also had a small selection of souvenir shops which was nice! They also sold a selection of basic products as well which meant you really didn’t need to leave the hotel. Unfortunately, a couple of areas to improve... Firstly, we heard good things about the animation during the day, although we didn’t use this as we spent our days on the beach. However, what we can say is that the evening entertainment was really poor. Although the animation team clearly work hard, and were friendly, the quality of the evening ‘shows’ was not good. For example, one evening was supposed to be ‘cabaret’ and what we watched was nowhere near a cabaret, but a series of short, slapstick sketches. Compared to other experiences in other hotels, this is an area which was not impressive. Another aspect of our trip which we need to mention was the check in experience, which was quite simply horrendous. We arrived late- around midnight- and the check in was chaotic, unorganised, slow and gave a very negative first impression of the hotel. Two other families were checking-in in front of us, and although not the hotel’s fault, they were absolutely wild and occupied the attention of the THREE members of the reception team. The staff on reception didn’t seem to have a sense of organization or personal approach which gave us a really disappointing welcome. When we finally got the attention of the reception team, we had to fill in a form, pay tourist tax and took our key- we were not explained anything about the hotel, amenities etc. which meant we had to return multiple times during our stay to ask quite basic things. Reception staff definitely require some training. For example the next day we came to ask for a card to collect towels. We were told no cards were available and to come back one hour later. One hour!? We gave it 15 minutes, asked someone else and got what we needed. The one positive thing about check in which really impressed us was that the restaurant had stayed open for us with a selection of hot food due to our late arrival - this was a really nice touch and hugely appreciated. All in all, we did have a lovely stay and if visiting Djerba again would stay at the Iliade again for a short visit! Me and my husband stayed at Iliade Hotel for four days as a little break from work. Overall, the stay was quite alright. I’ll start with advantages, and firstly it’s the food. Everything was fresh, testy and nice. Lots of varieties: beef, chicken, seafood, salads, sides and lots of tasty deserts and some nice local dishes to try. A big shout out to the waiter Abdeslam - he was fantastic at his job! Nice bonus on late arrival (around 12am) was that we could eat out dinner in the main restaurant - a nice little unexpected touch!! Second advantage I want to mention is the beach: clean and warm sea, with shallow entrance. Nice, comfortable sun-lounges (always available). And I believe that’s all of the advantages. Unfortunately, I’ll have to bring it up, that the reception team needs to improve. Our check in experience was the worst we have had ever. Slow and at the same time chaotic. Staff didn’t know what they were doing! We didn’t receive any information about the hotel, facilities, meals’ times etc. at all! This looked more like “fill out the form, pay us the touristic tax and there are your keys”. Awful! Unfortunately, I’ll have to say the same about the animation team. I can’t judge animation during the day as we stayed more on the beach rather than at the pool, but evening performances were… don’t know how to put it softly - not very good. We have been in many countries and have seen different animations team - this one wasn’t good, believe me. Although the guys individually were nice and friendly, but overall, it seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing… I would like to mention as well, that there is not much to visit around the hotel. People write about the souk (it’s actually about 20 min one way by taxi) and CrocoPark close bu, but literally there is nothing around the hotel, nowhere to walk in the evening, which makes the stay a little boring.. it’s probably not the hotel’s problem, but the area or island in general, but anyway I think it’s worth mentioning, as I wouldn’t stay there for more that 4 days. Regarding the room, it was average, but the bathroom was really good: spacious, comfortable shower, clean and modern. We had our room with the patio and a little garden in front of the room. There was a pedestrian path there as well. Unfortunately, we didn’t really see the daylight in the room as there was only one type of thick curtains in the room, so if we wanted to see the daylight, we had to open thick curtains which meant we were exposed and people could see everything in the room. And the opposite: if the curtains are closed we had to switch the light during the day time. This wasn’t really convenient. Overall, it was alright, but I’m not sure I’d come again.
