We stayed at The Orangers Garden Villas & Bungalows from 4th–11th April and it exceeded all of our expectations. I had been to Tunisia before but a long time ago. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so welcoming and this set the tone for the whole stay. Everybody was warm, attentive and welcoming right until we left which made a huge difference and gave the hotel a really personal feel. The room itself was very modern and incredibly spacious. It felt fresh & well thought out and exactly what you’d expect from a luxury 5-star property. The food and drink were a real highlight for me. While the choice isn’t overwhelming like some all-inclusive hotels, everything that is offered is done exceptionally well. The pool and beach areas were spotless, very well maintained, and had a calm, relaxed atmosphere. The beach had discreet security which meant you could properly unwind without being approached constantly by sellers. The waiter service directly to your sunbed was another great touch and added to the overall luxury feel. The vibe of the hotel is peaceful and relaxed, which we loved. It’s ideal if you’re looking to switch off and enjoy a quieter atmosphere but you also have access to the neighbouring 4-star hotel if you want something a bit more lively or have children with you. This hotel strikes a perfect balance between luxury, comfort and a laid-back atmosphere. It would suit couples, families, or really anyone looking for a high-quality all-inclusive without the chaos of larger resorts. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or to recommend

Let me first say this is a review of the 5* ultra all inclusive Les Orangers Garden Villas and Bumgalows, NOT the lesser nearby Les Orangers beach resort. The two are often mixed up by people reviewing. I stayed for two weeks in the Garden Villas last summer, and was impressed by such a lovely setting on the beach….the whole hotel, garden, the pool area, the excellent heated pool, rooms and restaurants were worthy of their 5* rating, and my review then reflected that. To the extent, I decided on a return visit this November. The hotel, and particularly the grounds, and pools, are still superb. This time I booked a Superior room, which being 60m square, is nearly double a normal room size…..excellent, although the room cleaning was less than spectacular, even the bathroom sink not wiped around for days, still showing toothpaste marks. Do the management check the rooms are cleaned adequately, or just assume? However, where there is a difference from the summer, in my opinion, is the restaurant food. I accept it is November, it is much quieter, with fewer guests, but this is no reason to dumb down the food offerings. All meals, breakfast, lunch and evening, seem to have been considerably reduced in choice. There are also very few staff around. The staff are very helpful and friendly , but seem under constant pressure. One member of staff particularly needs mentioning, Eskanda, in the upper bar. An excellent ambassador for the hotel, with first class customer skills - promote this man! Coffee is available from the usual automatic machines, but very sweet, for the local taste. It is very difficult to find a reasonable cup of coffee, apart from the small bar, run by an excellent coffee maker, Makrem, near the Spa. Try, in the main restaurant , to find a milk jug? Use a cup to get milk for your tea! Breakfast offers one choice of chopped turkey flavour sausages, or another morning spiced sausages…or none at all. The egg cooking station, despite asking someone to translate, have no idea what a poached egg is…. returning with a boiled egg! There is plenty of salad choice, at breakfast, but little cooked choice. How many times at breakfast did we have to ask for tea cups/tea pots at the “tea/coffee station”…..why doesn’t someone taken ownership and refill? Ice cream does not appear anywhere, morning or evening . The explanation…it’s too cold! This may seem picky, but advertising yourself as a 5* ultra all inclusive? Salads, there is choice, but, other than cheap pre sliced Spam type choice of cold meats, rarely cold fish, chicken, beef, etc, with it. A hard boiled egg with the salad….once seen in 10 days. Many types of salad dressings…but what are they? None are named. Pizza……yes, a choice, but you have to guess what is in them….lets hope you don’t have an allergy? Why not name things? An international hotel should certainly be aware of allergies, but no one seems to be. Even trying to explain to the chef to name things….. Cheese….choice of two or three similar “plastic” types only! Again, unnamed, guess what they are. The hotel, despite being “international “ appears to cater mainly now for African tastes, where the majority of clients now are still European. Being French by origin…the patisserie is excellent. The best of the food offerings! Management….get a grip. There are enough of you wandering around, seemingly doing very little, while your staff work. The one manager I found particularly helpful and interested was Hussin, who is a delight. The guests should be asked their views on the food offerings, others we spoke to, including a French couple, were not greatly impressed. One couple described it as “dire”. This is a great hotel you are letting slide, and a hotel that is much more expensive than most in the area! I think, paying the premium for this hotel, premium food needs to be offered. We used the al la carte restaurant one evening. Food was fine, but the place was like a morgue. Absolutely no character or soul. Give it some decoration and life! Also, it is unbelievable, to keep your room on because of an evening flight, they demand 350 tnd….about £92. This is for an extra 4 hours use, and the hotel is virtually empty. Hardly a reasonable charge, in a country where costs are minimal. This hotel needs to be sensible, this only antagonises guests, and such an inflexible attitude to the charge, certainly annoyed me. I stayed for three weeks last month at the Hotel Schererzade, Sousse, a 4* . The food offerings, the choice, the quality, far exceed Les Orangers. No wonder that hotel is constantly full, to the extent I have rebooked there for three weeks next autumn. Maybe management should pay a visit? Until Les Orangers gets to grip with their offerings, I will not return. I travel constantly, as my reviews will show. Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPad

“2 Star food in 5 star hotel!!!”

We have been visiting this hotel, twice a year since 2019, usually May & September. The fact that we kept returning shows we loved the place, the staff were all lovely and we always looked forward to our visit. When we were there in May 2025 we observed a whole change in atmosphere around the place, there was also a lot of new staff, the food was not nearly as good and most often it was cold, even fresh dishes coming out of kitchen were cold. We raised our concerns with Mohammed - hotel manager - he assured us that he would take action and that things would be better for our visit in September 2025 which was already booked. We returned in September as arranged, not only had things not improved, they had got worse, the food was shocking, apart from the freshly made pizzas that were made out the back, but you cannot live on pizzas for 2 weeks. The room we were given was the worst room we had ever had, despite the manager promising us in May, that he would make sure we were looked after. There was an attitude of take it or leave it from the manager. The atmosphere around the place just got worse and it was not enjoyable. We spoke again to the manager but got very little help or reassurance from him, despite him giving us his phone number and telling us, any problems just whatsapp me. When we returned home, I twice sent Mohammed whatsapp messages, raising our concerns and looking for some reassurances, so we could return in May 2026, the points we raised, were the standard of food, was nowhere near good enough for a 5 star hotel, also several other concerns were put to him, and I have to say they were done in a very polite way, not in an angry way, we wanted things to improve so we could return. The manager, has read both my messages, but has totally ignored me, not even a thank you. All I was doing was asking for some reassurances, but nothing back from Mohammed. The lack of a reply only tells me one thing, he does not care if we return or not, so we will not be returning. This was a very hard decision for us to make, as we truly loved the place, we visited this hotel over 10 times, loved it. A new manager comes in and suddenly the whole atmosphere around the place changes, the food standard drops. Not good.
