A wonderful week at a very special place. Dar Ennassim is a beautiful building that is very tastefully decorated. Our rooms were spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean with gorgeous rooftop views. The service and breakfasts were perfect and it was easy to park nearby. The location is also great for the airport, Sidi Bou Said, Carthage and Tunis.

I’ve come to Tunisia for more than a decade and stayed in a hotels across Lac I, downtown and La Marsa. La Marsa is my preference – easy and safe to walk around when I travel alone, many different restaurants and shops nearby, and yet still not too far from anywhere I need to get to for work… When my usual hotel turned out to be full, I recalled someone mentioning Dar Ennassim and decided to try it. Glad I did because now I have another wonderful option in La Marsa! The whole building is a labor of love – two old houses that the family renovated every inch of over years and now runs together. It’s a charming and quirky, but clean and well run, labyrinth of stairs (if you have mobility problems, this may not be your place), guest rooms and spaces for eating and lounging, full of art, including many paintings by the host’s mother, Sonia. When the weather is good, the breakfast terrace has an outstanding view, and the breakfast is homemade and to order. Each room is different. The price for a stay is incredibly reasonable, and the host, Taieb, was always available in person or on WhatsApp if I had a question. The street quiets down quickly at night. (There is a mosque next door, but I'm used to that, personally, and don't wake after the first day or so. And obviously, if you're someone who gets up for Fajr prayers, then it's no issue!). From a business trip perspective, I would say that it worked well, although it certainly depends on your preferences. Internet was generally strong, although had some blind spots. Both the hotel and La Marsa itself have plenty of spaces to get work done or set up a meeting. As you would expect, though, this is not an anonymous experience. You see the hosts in the morning at breakfast, and it’s the kind of place where it’s not uncommon to fall into conversation with both guests and hosts. There are no meals other than breakfast (but there are two great café/restaurants literally across the street, and dozens of options in the overall area). So it just depends on what you want/need for your trip. I personally loved it and am sure to return!

This renovated mansion was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. 5-stars. The entire guest house was spotlessly clean. The bedding was luxurious. I slept so well in my room's comfortable king-sized bed. I thought there might be some noise staying in a large home, but it was so quiet because the rooms are well separated. The breakfast was incredible. So much food, eggs made to order, lovely baked goods - more than what we could have wanted. The home is family-run. Taieb and his mother Sonia were available for any questions and suggestions. The staff is amazing. They have a long family history tied back to Tunisia royalty. The history of the home's artifacts and furnishings is mind-boggling. The value for the money is fantastic. You can stay in a similar type property right in Sidi Bou Said, but you will be paying 3x as much. Dar Ennassim is in a nice neighborhood. It is walkable to tourist attractions in the area, but some are a longer walk. Thankfully, Bolt (like Uber) is available. We were so pleasantly surprised with our stay.
