My honest review: * Reception: the reception area was clean and presentable, but our 02:00am check-in was disappointing. We were initially given only one room key for a family of three, told we couldn't purchase Wi-Fi until later that day, and were never informed about the towel cards required to collect fresh pool towels from the spa. We only discovered these after our third full day, by which point we'd already bought towels locally. Some of the trainee staff were actually the most helpful during our stay. * Rooms: the rooms in our part of the hotel were dated and in need of maintenance. There were signs of old damp and mould in the bathroom, broken fixtures and fittings, and not enough pillows for our family. We regularly had to chase housekeeping for basic items such as toilet rolls, or find them ourselves. Maintenance work was carried out outside our room, but rust and paint debris from the staircase remained outside our door for over three days without being cleaned up. In fact, it was still there when we checked out. * Grounds: the hotel grounds were well maintained, attractive, and ideal for photographs. The quieter areas away from the pools and bars were generally clean and free from litter. * Bars: the bars were clean, and the bar staff were excellent; friendly, professional, and personable. The only downside was the lack of a designated non-smoking area, which made spending evenings around the bars less enjoyable as a non-smoker. * Restaurant & Dining: unfortunately, the dining areas were often messy, cluttered, and at times quite dirty. There didn't appear to be enough front-of-house staff to cope with the number of guests. Tables were frequently left uncleared, food was left on the floor in walkways, and communication could be difficult as many staff spoke very little English. * Entertainment: the entertainment team were fantastic. My daughter (11 y/o) took part in activities almost every evening and thoroughly enjoyed herself. While there were occasional language barriers, the team worked hard to make the evenings enjoyable for everyone. * Pools: the pools were clean and generally well maintained. However, there were periods where no lifeguards were present, particularly around the slides, which was concerning. The slides were closed for precautionary measures, but, nonetheless, this wasn't ideal. There was also an incident in the main pool that required it to be closed for an extended period, although the pool staff handled the situation professionally. * Spa: we booked several treatments at the spa, which were excellent and represented good value for money, in my humble opinion. Wi-Fi: the Wi-Fi was very poor value. The connection was unreliable, with frequent dropouts and long periods where it barely worked. Looking back, using mobile roaming would probably have been both cheaper and more reliable. Overall: there are some genuinely positive aspects to this hotel, particularly the beautiful grounds, friendly bar staff, entertainment team, and spa. However, the poor housekeeping, inconsistent maintenance, chaotic dining experience, disappointing check-in, and unreliable paid Wi-Fi meant the hotel fell well short of what we expected. With better staffing, communication, and attention to detail, it could be a much better holiday experience.
