“Not great but good!”

We booked this hotel for a family holiday with teenage kids. The hotel has not much entertainment activities to offer kids but not a bad option for a relaxing stay. We booked this hotel for a family holiday with teenage kids. The hotel has not much entertainment activities to offer kids but not a bad option for a relaxing stay. Hotel is approx. 2 hours by car from Antalya Havalimani (airport). Impressed by the way Antalya airport is managed. No hassle on arrival counters or baggage belts. The GOOD: - Surprisingly did not have to pay arrival/landing fee on British passport, at the airport. Previous 3 visits to Turkiye, i remember paying £20/person at the airport arrivals. Check official source of arrival fee information before travelling as it might changes. - Outside airport exit, the shuttle services have their small counters with a number displayed on their counters. Holiday company/shuttle service will mention go to counter number to grab the shuttle bus for your journey when you receive booking confirmation. (Bus drivers expect tips). - Hotel Reception: Nice team of helpful and smiley receptionists. We were warmly welcomed by a nice guy at reception named Bedrian. A part from reception you would struggle to easily communicate in English with other staff. - Dinning & Food/Drinks: Better then an average clean dinning area than most holiday hotels. Clean cutlery and plates. Food was average with not much options. Often the menu is repeated. But you can tell that chefs tried to give a variety with one dish each of chicken, lamb, fish, vegetable and rice/pasta. Chips/Wedges are part of daily menu. Freshly made plain and stuffed bread (peda) is included in menu daily regardless. Desserts were disappointed though. Fruits (oranges, grape fruit, watermelon, melon and peaches) are part of daily menu. Plenty of chilled fizzy drinks and water. BBQ area outside by the pool for grilled food at dinner time. Different option everyday i.e. fish, chicken, Turkish kebab etc. Not sure about the BBQ taste! Restaurant chef (Ahmet) is a nice guy, in fact the whole team of chefs is cooperative. We required certain food due to allergies which they normally do not offer unless requested. Once we explained, the chef ensured the required food is provided everyday. Google Translator helps with this kinda sensitive conversation. - WiFi: You pay for WiFi to use inside hotel. I think we paid 7 Euro for 10 days. WiFi is good inside hotel including rooms. I wish if someone had explained that you can get a "Holiday mobile sim" from 10 min walk from hotel. I think you can get 25 GB in 15 Euro with calls and texts. - Beach: Hotel has it's own small pebble beach by the sea. Limited sun loungers with para soles. Loved the sea front with clear water. Hotel take 5 Euro deposit per person for beach towel which is changeable every morning from their massage centre. There is not much happening at the beach but water sports is available. We found it very expensive. 50 Euro for 15 min jet ski and 80 Euro for 5 km parasailing. Hotel also have a restaurant near the beach, serving food from 12 to 4 pm. Although food was boring (burgers, chips, salad, spaghetti with sauce, watermelon/oranges) but if eaten with the view, it is not so bad. Lemonade and freshly made flat breads add to the options. - Spa/Wellness: A must try facility at the basement of hotel. If you manage to negotiate a good package for Turkish Hamam/Masks/Sauna and Massage then it is good value for money. Masseuse are good especially the lady masseuse for ladies is highly recommended. - Nearby: Hotel is on D400 (highway). There is a good touristy commercial area only 10 mins from hotel by walk. Plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes. Prices are reasonable, don't be shy negotiating. A big beautiful mosque at one end of the commercial area. Mosque has separate area for women. Alanya city centre is 30 mins by car, costs 15 Euro. Can also take bus outside the hotel. Some of famous tourist attractions are; Kelopatra beach, Pirate boat trip, Cove, Cable car, Castle, Citadel. All this is a day trip. THE NOT SO GOOD: - Hotel Room: Clean room, good room size for couple but not form family. If you are staying in main building, the room comes with decent size balcony. Bathroom was very small, one person will just fit. Room had a cupboard, mini fridge (with a freezer compartment), a TV, an aircon, mirror with shelf and a chair. - Pool: It was disappointing. Small pool with one slide. The depth of the pool is 160cm. However there is a separate small pool alongside for toddlers. Sun loungers (with para soles) are limited. If you do not grab them early morning, you will struggle to sit by the pool for rest of the day. Pool has a bar with covered seating area. There is a WC near pool area. By the pool, there is a shop selling holiday stuff, of course pricey! - Entertainment: It requires improvement. A tiny Ampi theatre and Hookah (Sheesha) seating area is all they have for entertainment. I am also not sure about the entertainment team. Overall i think anything more than £700 all inclusive per person would be overprice for this hotel in the peak season.
