La Guaira is capital of the Venezuelan state of Vargas. At just 30km from Caracas and founded in 1577 it was and still is considered one of the countrys prinicipal ports. Today, La Guaira is known for its exports of cocoa beans, coffee and tobacco as well as one of the top sport fishing destinations in the world with its high numbers of blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, and spearfish.
