Tangier

Bohemian and full of life

Tangier is unforgettable. Dotted with unique colours, scents and flavours, its origins forged between legend and reality, its fierce character and an exotic cosmopolitan atmosphere have made this Moroccan city a favourite destination for artists and writers from all over the world. Here great figures like Henri Matisse, Eugène Delacroix and Paul Bowles gave life to a truly bohemian and intellectual atmosphere that is still breathed in its streets today and that have made Tangier the protagonist of countless books and films.

With an important commercial role, Tangier has managed to incorporate interesting modern visions into its rich historical and cultural heritage. Constantly expanding and with a breathtaking bay, the city offers travellers great food and unique little spots to contemplate from atop Bella Vista hill and the Colline du Charf, an enclave that provides some of the best panoramic views over the city. Exotic and rambunctious, its adventurous spirit and wide variety of entertainment make it all the more interesting. The Grand Socco, the Kasbah, the Grand Mosque, the Dar el-Makhzen Palace, the Kasbah Mosque, St Andrew's Anglican Church, the Kasbah Museum, the Place de France and the Place de Faro are just some of its many highlights. A definite must-see!
