I would like to share my wonderful experience in the Tirana Marriott hotel. My wife and I were part of a tour group. We stayed at the Marriot two nights. I must state that everything about this hotel was great. The location is near all the main sites. The building itself is interesting. The rooms were large, well appointed with all the amenities. The breakfast was rich in options and very generous. The most important part of our experience, and the best part, was the friendly, efficient, and very helpful staff. I am generally a critical person, so when I say that I give them top marks for service I really mean it. One experience stands out. The hotel offered a tasting experience of the local drink called "Raki". My wife and I dutifully went down to the dining room and no other guests were there. Nevertheless, the staff immediately sat us down, set up the bottles and the glasses. The maître di stood by us and explained about each and every style, in a humorous and interesting manner. Then the man behind the bar said, "You shouldn't be drinking that by itself, you should have a plate of the food we eat with these drinks". In a minute he set up a plate with the various portions and explained what they were. I figured OK, it'll cost, but we like "experiences". When we had completed our tasting, I asked for the bill. The staff said "no charge, it's on us", even the food that had not been part of the "tasting" experience. Through the whole time, the staff was friendly and informative. This was a special experience, but in all other interactions with the staff, whether asking for a map and directions, to asking for a special omelet, to getting a refill for my coffee, the staff was just wonderful. I recommend this hotel and commend the staff. Marriott should be proud of people like them.

“Needs improvement”

I stayed here for four nights at the end of May. My room was comfortable, but needed improvements. First of all, there is no soundproofing! I stayed here for four nights at the end of May. My room was comfortable, but needed improvements. First of all, there is no soundproofing! There was a concert and motorcycle rally just outside the hotel and I could hear the noise. The cyclists were constantly revving their engines and the noise continued well past 10:30 p.m. There was very limited drawer space in the room. One cupboard was next to the refrigerator. The heat from the refrigerator made everything in the cupboard warm. The light switches were also confusing. It was difficult to figure out how to turn off all of the main lights, yet leave a reading light on by my bed. On the positive side, the location is central. The breakfast was nice. I enjoyed my meal at the Terra Restaurant.

five star rating is not justified but overall nice stay with peace of mind.
