Lovely 3 nights stay in this quaint hotel in the heart of Algiers. Clean rooms, friendly service and a good breakfast spread. But what really stands out is its amazing location. You’re literally right smack in centre of the city. Lots of restaurants, convenience stores all a short walk away. Easily walkable to the top sights of the city. Metro station about 5 minutes walk away and it is located in an extremely safe area. No problems walking alone even at night. 6 stars out of 5!

My husband and I recently stayed at ABC Hotel for three nights from October 18-21, returning for one night on October 26 during our trip to Algeria. Overall, we found the hotel to be a decent choice for our time in Algiers. The hotel is conveniently located about 1.5 km from Khelifa Boukhlafa metro station, providing easy access to attractions like the Casbah, Place des Martyrs, and Jardin d'Essai. It’s also just a 20-minute walk to the Casbah, Grand Post Office, and Martyrs Square, making it ideal for exploring the downtown area on foot if you prefer not to take the metro. Numerous restaurants and coffee shops are within walking distance, such as Cafe Eddys, Arabasque (serving Syrian food), and Walima (serving traditional cuisine). However, we found the food at these places to be average and nothing special. During our three-night stay, we occupied a room with a double bed on the third floor. On our return visit, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to Suite 601. The suite featured a double bed on the first floor with a tiny bathroom that lacked a shower. The downstairs level had a sofa, which was unfortunately broken during our stay, along with a full-size bathroom that had a bathtub. We experienced some issues with hot water, which took a long time to come in the mornings, resulting in a couple of cold showers. The suite had a small balcony with street views, which added a nice touch. Despite these quirks, the hotel rooms were basic yet comfortable, spacious, and clean. The lobby was decent, and we found the staff to be very friendly and efficient, especially Omar and Mohammed, who helped us get a Heetch when we were unable to call one from our phones—a gesture we greatly appreciated. In general, all guest rooms offer a large double bed, a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and a desk. ABC Hotel provides free Wi-Fi and features amenities like a 24-hour front desk and an on-site restaurant, although lunch was is served at all times. While the hotel has its strengths, the breakfast left something to be desired. Served on the second floor, the selection was extremely limited, primarily consisting of 2-3 baked cookies, a few hard-boiled eggs, and occasionally stale vegetables and grapes. A more diverse breakfast would significantly enhance the experience. Coffee and tea were available, and the dining area was clean. The Wi-Fi was functional but slow, making it challenging to connect at times, although this was not a major issue. On a positive note, the hotel provided water bottles for guests, which was convenient. Whether this hotel is worth your stay depends on your travel itinerary for Algiers. We arrived early on a Friday and spent the day exploring nearby attractions, went to Walima for lunch, which was within walking distance. We visited the Casbah, Grand Post Office, and had dinner at a pizza place—all about a 30-minute walk from the hotel. The next day, we had a "best of Algiers" tour arranged by Fancy Yellow, which took almost the entire day. On Sunday, we enjoyed a free day and visited Hydra’s El Hyl cafe (a 20-minute drive from ABC), the Grand Mosque, and then took the metro to the Casbah area. On Monday, we had a Tipaza and Cherchell tour booked by Fancy Yellow, so our time at the hotel was minimal. In summary, if you're looking for a hotel where you can relax with spacious rooms and a nice lobby, this may not be the right choice for you. However, if your Algiers itinerary is busy and you are constantly on the go with minimal time at the hotel, ABC Hotel is a good budget friendly option. As foodies, breakfast is our favorite meal of the day, and while ABC did not fulfill those needs, the hospitality of Omar and Mohammed, proximity to various attractions and our packed schedule made it a suitable choice for us.

“OK, clean average hotel.”

Found it clean it with bedding and towels freshly laundered. Things like window coverings need a clean and update. Rooms a bit dark. Bathrooms again clean and functional but on the cusp of needing updating as old. Hot water in one room was rusty and needed to run for ages to clear. Rooms on the s… more

Found it clean it with bedding and towels freshly laundered. Things like window coverings need a clean and update. Rooms a bit dark. Bathrooms again clean and functional but on the cusp of needing updating as old. Hot water in one room was rusty and needed to run for ages to clear. Rooms on the street at the front can be noisy as on a steep hill. Breakfast average, nothing to get excited about. You can walk to various points of interest and Metro only 5 mins. It’s OK as a place to sleep but not a hotel to spend much time in otherwise. Only just a 3 star, 2.5 really.
