Having travelled to many parts of the world and stayed in a lot of the great hotels, this is right up there with the very best. It is undoubtedly one of the shining jewels in the Melia group’s crown. As with all of the Gran Melia hotels we have stayed in, the staff are extremely good in all departments. The front desk, the breakfast staff, the concierge, bar staff, pool staff, housekeeping, etc etc, the hotel management should be justifiably proud of the team and culture they have created. The hotel location is stunning, with a well cared for infinity pool that has very comfortable sunbeds and a fabulous view. In fact, there are few pools in the world which could boast views with the wow factor this one has. It’s also an oasis of peace and calm, with generally only tropical bird sounds to break the silence. The ability to get to the park and right up to the falls before the crowds arrive is a huge plus. You can really take in every moment of the fabulous views in your own time, without feeling like you really should move on and let someone else take your spot, and without people squeezing by you. Get there at 8am if you can, and enjoy a unique experience. I saw a couple of comments about the hotel rooms. We found ours to be totally acceptable, and commensurate with the profile of the hotel and the price point. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom was on point, and the housekeeping staff did a great job for us. We had a falls view room on the top (third) floor, and we kept the curtains open pretty much the whole time so that the waterfall view greeted us in the morning. Also so that we watch the fabulous little monkeys who come and say hello a couple of times a day in their search for a snack or two. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful, and all geared towards looking towards the waterfall of course. Subtly lit, nicely furnished, and with an almost luxury African safari lodge feel about them. If I have one criticism, it’s probably the cost of food and drink. I am fully aware of the additional levy you pay in 5 star hotels, but it still felt 25% higher than it should be. I think the management should review this. I don’t want to end on a negative, so I’ve left one of the best bits until last. If you can go the extra, do stay in the Red Level rooms. The quality, variation, and amount of food provided in the comfortable and private lounge was first class, as was the quality of beer, wine and beverages in general too. We stayed seven nights at the hotel, and due to the way the staff days off were rostered, it was only Abigail and Esteban who looked after us the entire week in the Red Level lounge. And what absolute stars the Melia group have with these two exceptional people! Nothing was too much trouble, and they continually went the extra yard for us, and for all their guests, at all times. Abigail booked us various taxis and trips, and generally ensured everything about our stay ran smoothly, and without leaving anything to chance. Her attention to detail was noted and really appreciated. She has a calm and professional air about her which belies her relatively short time in the industry. You would think she had been in the business for many years. I fully expect to see her running hotels as GM in the future! Esteban kept the food and drink service running as smooth as silk, and clearly cares about his customers in a way I have rarely seen. He is genuine and kind, and always wears a smile. Abigail and Esteban were instrumental in turning what would have been a great stay into a truly exceptional one, and we would like to say a huge thank you to both. We hope to return to this special hotel sooner rather than later!

Beautiful property inside the National Park with incredible views of Iguazú Falls and The Park. A very friendly and engaging Staff providing impeccable service. Excellent food and drink choices and daily comedy performances from the resident monkeys. We upgraded to the Red Level (highly recommended for maximum experience) with a beautiful suite & large private deck and access to Red Level Concierge Lounge. Classes for making Ceviche & Pisco Sours, as well as wine tasting were terrific. Everyone was customer focused and we would like to give special Kudos to Lilia’s Red Level Team- Abigail & Esteban who were exceptional! Also a “Shout Out” to Americo who knows about all happenings in the hotel.

“Rejuvenating Experience”

Apart from the monkey experience where they entered the room and empited all snacks from the bar, great location, views and service. Comfortable beds. But steam not working. Pool shd be semi heated. The wine tasting was a lovely experience. Good bfast. Roof top bar has magnificent views.
