We stayed here 3 nights in December 2025. I think before picking a hotel you should decide whether you want to see the Argentina or Brazil side of Iguazu, or both. We did both. I think one side is enough, especially if you are short on time. We liked the Argentina side better because it feels more immersive and has a number of longer trails, which we enjoyed walking almost the whole day. We also liked doing the boat ride. If you prefer to walk less and see the highlights in a shorter amount of time, then the Brazil side might be better. We took a private driver to/from Overo to the Brazil park at 8am and finished at the park at 1pm. It took us about 1.5 hrs of commute on each side for the round trip, and the private transfer cost $110k pesos. Still glad we did it, but it’s a toss up. If you stay on the Brazil side, I think a splurge to stay at the Belmond hotel is worth it if it doesn’t stretch your budget too much. The hotel is beautiful and it gains you access to the park before and after hours, so you don’t need to deal with the crowds before 8am or after 5pm. As for Overo itself, we thought it was a good value option. As the other reviewers have noted, the onsite restaurant and breakfast is quite good, and the staff are friendly and responsive. We thought Gino who checked us in was great. There are two pools and both were nice to relax in and the water was a good temperature. The main question here are the rooms, which I would describe as a nice country cabin. I think it’s a stretch to call it luxury or a villa, but everything did work. The mattresses and linens aren’t luxury quality, but still comfortable. Overall we would recommend Overo and felt it was a good value. I think it would be particularly great value for a family or two couples, as each villa comes with a loft, so you can comfortably sleep 4 people. The whole hotel is only 8 villas so you get better service than the bigger hotels in the same location along the main road. As long as you like being ground level in the rainforest and can deal with a few bugs and rustic decor, I would think this is a better choice than similar price point options at the larger hotels.

“Feeling like in the jungle”

We spent two nights in this lodge while visiting the famous falls. Our lodge was comfortable and offered all expected amenities. We had dinner in the restaurant which offers an original cuisine combining local products and creativity. All in all our stay was very pleasant .

The accommodations were a little more rustic than we expected from the pictures, but we enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast is very good and we lounged around both outdoor pools. The location is between town and the falls and right next to the animal sanctuary. It's right off the road, so there is quite a bit of road noise. We had an issue with our plumbing the first day, but it was fixed immediately The staff is very friendly and responsive.

UPDATE - “Trouble with Communication - No Response” review This is an update to my review (posted December 17) titled “Trouble with Communication - No Response” (refer below to see the initial review) (In case you also saw my review on Google as well, that review was titled “Five stars for the Location...but (so far) ZERO for useful "after booking and paying" communication”. I have updated that review as well) I wish to report that this morning, December 23, I received a response and assistance via WhatsApp from the owner. I am now confident that all is in order with our reservation. I am moving my rating from “2” to “3” as satisfactory. Once we have stayed in April, I will complete a full review. I think it was unfortunate to have to write a review in order to get the attention of someone to help me. I sincerely hope the owner will resolve the communication issues as prior reviews demonstrate this has been an ongoing problem and does not reflect well for the Overo Lodge. Below is my original posting from on Dec 17 (which TA required me to remove in order to provide an updated review): "Trouble with communication - no response" I want to be clear that I have not stayed at the Overo Lodge yet, but that I have (I hope!) a six-night paid reservation with them for April 2026. We are two seniors who hope we are celebrating an important anniversary while staying at Overo. The reason I am offering this review is to advise other travelers of the communication issues I am facing and perhaps someone will reach out from Overo, or one of their previous guests can offer suggestions. Let me recount what appears to be going on: On December 05, 2025, I sent a message to their "reservas@..." email address (as listed on their website) requesting clarification whether my booking was refundable-changeable or non-refundable. I made it clear that I did not intend to cancel, but might need to change the dates. I needed to know my options. No response. So, December 09, 2025, I resent the message to the same "reservas@..." address. No response. Two days later, I tried sending the message through their website's "contact" page. No response. On December 13, 2025, I decided to try the website's "info@..." email address. I hoped that one would work. To date, no response. WhatsApp doesn't seem to be working either... I am at a loss to know what else to try -- So, I am detailing what is going on in the hopes the individual who routinely responds to all the great reviews (which led me to book in the first place) will see this message and get me some help. It's a simple question I am posing. Why has there been no response? At this point, I am quite worried whether we have a legitimate (and fully paid!) reservation with them. You might wonder why I am unsure of the booking's terms and conditions-- It's because the documents I received from Overo's "Cloudbeds" booking platform list two policies and do not say which one applies to my booking. I did not notice this when I received them. I think my booking may be non-changeable, but I want to make sure. I'm somewhat worried because I've already had a bad experience with someone purporting to be Overo Lodge contacting me through the Booking.com website when I originally booked there. They tried to demand payment. When questioned, Overo informed me they had not requested payment via Booking.com and it appeared there had been a hack of their system through Booking.com. Overo was very helpful and advised not to click on any link. (At that point, I cancelled Booking.com and re-booked directly through Overo's website which uses "CloudBeds" platform to make the booking and receive payment.) Up to that point, Overo had been very responsive and helpful. The reservation confirmation and invoice were issued (payment was made in full). That's the story. I hope someone can help- And I sincerely hope I can update this review to say the problem has been identified and solved.
